hello, everyone
i started a low GI diet about a month ago - i've (like so many others!) done the yoyo dieting thing, although it was never an actual 'diet', more like i wouldn't eat for a few days etc. that worked when i was younger, but now i'm in my late 30s, have two children and realised that i need to have a healthier lifestyle. i want to prevent things like diabetes and osteoperosis if i can - low GI seems ideal for that.
earlier this year i had to take three months off work due to a (long undiagnosed) vitamin b12 deficiency. once they found out what was wrong with me it was easy to fix with b12 shots every day for a while. trouble is, during the previous couple of months, while i had no energy i certainly had an appetite! spent most of the day lying on the couch stuffing pringles or chocolate (or both) in my gob. result? i went to the docs a few months ago and i was 80kgs for the first time ever. i tried doing the walk at lunchtime, eat three good meals and three snacks a day thing, but i put on weight after a month. fairly desperate, i found the montignac book and ordered it. i've found the low GI approach easy to follow, and i basically eat beautiful food all day - just more for breakfast and lunch and a little for dinner. i don't snack at all any more and i've been getting to the gym at least 3 times a week. so i'm currently at 73.3kgs, but can't wait to get to 69kgs which will put me in the healthy bmi range. i was hoping to get there by jan 1, but of course the christmas parties are kicking in and well, you know how that goes
anyway, nice to be here. good luck to everyone with their goals
