Hello

My name is David, I am 19 years old (20 in may). About a month ago I decided that I unhappy enough with the way I looked that I was going to do something about it. Since then I have realized that getting in shape is for more than just physical appearance, but for my health later in life as well.

I started one month ago at 6'2" and 250lbs. I am built fairly large, but was still quite overweight. Today I weigh 226lbs and feel better than I can ever remember. I have a ton of energy, I am sleeping better, able to stay awake during the day, and generally feel like a nearly 20 year old college student should I think.

My short term goal, by august 2006, is to weigh in at 210lbs. Ultimately, I would like to settle somewhere between 180-185 pounds with a 32-34 inch waist. So far I have been doing well with a general activity plan (pushups, situps, walking) and eating much healthier. Sodas, burgers, fries, all of that has been cut down drastically if not altogether eliminated. I did some research and found that I was consuming nearly 1000 calories in a single meal, it was disgusting for the amount of physical activity I was (not) doing.

I am not looking to become a body builder, just become healthier and gain lean muscle and cut down the overlying fat. I come from a large family, and I have learned that it is much easier to get in shape and maintain that level of fitness throughout life if I get started now when I'm young.

-David
