:) Hi. I'm in my forties and have been on a weight loss plan for quite awhile. I have lost almost 40 pounds so far. But I am missing the element of support and that's why I'm here. I have my days when I want to giive up and get sick of the stand stills at times. That is where support comes in, too. I'm glad to be here and meet you all.

Hi Angela

Congratulations on your weight loss so far, to lose 40 pounds is incredible work and an enormous amount of willpower. Nice to meet you! I think if you ever get that you want to give up feeling, just tell yourself how much you lost already, thats helps to remind you of what you accomplished and gives you that extra boost of willpower to keep you going. Well good luck to you in the future!! and keep up the great work!!

Good idea, it's been taking me a long time to lose the amount of weight I want to. That has bothered me some. But people say taking it off slow is better. I've just hit a lot of plateaus and then for awhile I think I wasn't eating enough calories so I went up on the calories and started losing again. I guess it will be worth it in the long run to get to that place I want to be.

HI Angela,

congratulations on all the weight that you already lost. Keep up the good work and don't give up. You are correct, weight that comes off slow stays off. The first fast weight loss, when starting a diet is mostly water and that doesn't really count.

And I agree with fitski...when in coubt look back at how much you already lost...you don't want to risk that, just because it is not going as fast as you want it to,

Thank you Lisa. I just need to be patient, I guess. Sometimes I lose my patience with myself. Seems like I've been trying to lose weight forever but then it is a lifestyle change that will be a part of my life forever.

I am happy to see some-one else is here in their forties? I really need some motivation, as today is friday, i plan to join a nearby gym, walking the road here is dangerous, i live on a scenic route and it is a busy road, to walk a track i must travel at least 8 miles.

Angela,

that is the right approach...it is not a diet, it is a change of lifestyle and doesn't end at any point in time. The mindset should be on eating and living healthy...the weight loss will be a by-product.

What helps me a lot is checking the nutritional values on the foods....if i see that the fat percentage is over 30%, I don't buy it, also if I see that the carbs are really really high and there is not much protein, I won't buy it. Funny thing is, at the beginning I still used to buy it, but it didn't taste that good, knowing what is in it.

Good Luck

Paula,
Yes, I'm in my 40s, too. I know what you mean about it being dangerous to walk. I used to walk at night until I thought "what am I doing?" I am thinking of joining a gym, too, once I get the $.

Lisa,
I always read the nutritional value of food, too. I used to eat fast food but don't hardly any more because it's hard to find out the nutritioanl value but when you do it's usually high fat and high carbs anyways.

this is so true....sometimes I feel like having a bk whopper, but when I think of the calories and the nutritional value...I'm cured. I have to admit though, every once in a while I have to have an A&W Teen Burger...thankfully not to often:D

Lisa, I know what you mean about splurging once in awhile. I have a 7 layer burrito (and a few other choice items) once in awhile and it's high in fat but I usually eat hardly any fat. I used to eat lots of fast food about 10 years ago until a doctor told me I had to stop. I had bad stomach problems from all the grease.

hi angela,

I tried on of those a few days ago and they are deadly....my first thought was...I have to make that at home....Thankfully the next day I started thinking (and talking to my hubby) about the content of this burritto and decided not to try that too soon:D:D
