My name is Chris & I am 19 years-old, I'm just wondering if someone here can answer a few questions and maybe help me out a bit. I'd just like too start by saying I am currently on a weight watches point-by-point diet.
I wasn't always overweight, when I started getting home early from school when I was in 6th grade I had stopped playing after school sports & I'd usually just come home and eat rubbish until dinner , then eat dinner. Eventually by 9th grade I weighed in at 87.5 Kilos/ 192.5 Pounds.
This is when I changed a lot, my girlfriend whom which I had been going out with since 7th grade, one day approached me after school and said..."Chris, you're seriously too fat now and It's a complete turn off". I was shocked to say the least, upset and angry. I didn't speak too her for about a year after that happened.
That SAME day, I had asked my mother about some diets etc. I started the weight watches Point by Point program and started going to the gym...4-5 days a week. I went from 87.5KG/192.5 Pounds to around 76KG/167.2 Pounds in about 8 weeks.
I never really stopped eating junk and I never got even a little bit buffed or ripped BUT my strength improved a HELL of a lot...I was bench pressing 40 Pounds when i first started, Last time I went to the gym I was upto just benching over 200 Pounds.
It's been...almost 3 Years now since I've been to the gym properly/since I stopped dieting...My weight actually went down to 71.4KG/157.08 Pounds since i last weighed myself 5 weeks ago.
5 Weeks ago I started up my weight watches points-by-points program again, My last weigh in on the 30th Of December 2006, I was 67.6KG/148.72 Pounds. I will be having another weigh on the 6th of Jan 2007. I am 170cm's tall and my goal weight is the safest/healthy at 58KG/127.6 pounds.
58KG is the lowest I am allowed too goto by weight watches standards at 170 cm's tall. What my plan is , I get to 58KG, then I start back up at the gym with a few mates and I want to gain some weight in muscle and tone up...not crazy buffage, just tone up.
I've been told to NOT start at the gym until I've reached my goal weight, because If i start going to the gym...I need to eat more...therefore I am going to gain body fat % ontop of the muscle % gain. Which would leave me stuck and I wouldn't improve.
Should I get my goal weight first, then start at the gym to gain muscle %.
Or
Should I start now at the gym...the reason I'm iffy on this is, I've heard it's very-heart near impossible to lose body fat % and gain muscle % at the same time.
