Hello, I'm 21 and I have stubborn belly fat. It's not in a certain area on my stomach, there's a bit more across the lower abdomen but I seem to have it all over! I'm not overweight, I'm happy with every other part of my body but I really struggle with losing the fat off my stomach. I exercise three times a week at the gym and watch what I eat, but it won't go away! If anything I seem to be getting more and more. I wonder if I need to eat more protein (I'm a vegetarian) but I struggle to find protein-rich foods I can eat, and I can't really afford protein whey powder. I've heard doing crunches and sit ups are good for your core but don't actually burn belly fat. My core muscles are pretty strong, there's just a layer of fat over the top! Any suggestions of what exercises would help burn the fat would be greatly appreciated, or any other tips! Thank you :)

Hi lexi,

I want to ask you one thing.. do you maintain a journal. I mean you are putting a great effort! Its okay if you can not afford whey powder.. there a variety of options which can be eaten intead of that. And i have observed with people that not every body get help with crunches alone. Weight loss is holistic. If one doesn't have a clear understanding of what really works for him then the person really finds it very difficult to lose weight. I will help you! but if you could start maintaining a food-activity journal that would be great too!
Okay do you have any health issues or any other stress in life? If so then also you might be struggling with weight loss. .
Hope you understood what i tried to figure out.. you can think over it and share. . then may be you will start losing weight soon! God bless you!

Cardio is the best for belly fat, and personally, the only thing that works for me. Also, it's really really good doing kickboxing or tae bo, those moves with legs, kicks especially side kicks are the best for abs, obliques in particular.

Hi Lexi. Cardio will help burn up those calories. You need to do it more than just a couple of times per week. However there has been research done to suggest the type of foods you eat plays a big role in the fat that builds up in the stomach. For example cheap vegetable oils should be replaced with coconut or cold pressed olive oil. Stay away from canola oil, it is one of the worst oils for chemicals that can keep the weight on.
Soybean products may not be beneficial as they have been genetically modified and can cause hormones to be triggered that cause stomach fat. Plus they require a lot of pesticides in their growing process. I mentioned this because a lot of vegetarians eat soy products. So keep working out and check your diet as I have tried to touch on a couple of things that many people do not think about when trying to lose weight. Good Luck.
