Hello, my username is Jeodo, and I live in Washington DC. I am looking to lose 21 more pounds, and would love to have some like-minded friends to...

Hi,
I'm here for you if you need help. :)

Today I will do weight lifting and elliptical. I do yoga and meditation everyday, so that will happen too!

Stating it to someone really helps my motivation, so thanks!

drink water before meals. i have try it. it worked nicely at least for me..
Thanks, and I'm glad it is helpful for you. I already drink so much water it's crazy, because I believe hydration is important!

I really wish I'd bothered to read the "Information we need" post before I posted, but I was excited! Here's the info requested there:

Any medical conditions which may have an impact on weight loss or ability to exercise: I had a serious injury two years ago which left me in a coma for 8 weeks. I am full recovered, but lost my fitness after the long hospital stays.

Age and sex: 60 and frequently. Kidding, I'm a woman.
Weight: I am 146 lbs
Height: I am 5 feet and 3 inches.
Bodyfat % I don't know

What your current diet looks like (food, calories and macro information if possible)
I am a vegetarian since 1983, and I eat pretty healthily. One of the weird outcomes of my injury was a loss of appetite. You'd think I'd lose weight automatically! I generally eat lunch and dinner or breakfast and dinner.

current exercise (type, frequency, duration)
I lift weights 4 days a week.
I do cardio machines 6 days a week.
I do yoga and meditation every day, and take one 90 minute yoga class per week.
Walking is my major form of transportation, and I do a lot of it. Ask my pedometer. :)

At 60 it becomes a little harder to drop the excess fat and you are only a little over normal weight (5lb) and your goal is solidly in the normal range so also good.

Being in a coma would have played havoc with your lean muscle mass so not only loosing fitness, your metabolism may have also slowed further increasing the difficulties.

So while your activities look good, patients is required as any losses will be slow.

I would suggest getting body fat % measured as this is a better guide to your healthy level of fats than BMI and allows and basing nutritional targets on lean mass is more accurate.

while your exercise looks good, what does your weight training consist of ? during a calorie restricted diet for fat loss the focus needs to be on strength training rather than higher rep weight training, as this is the best way to maintain existing muscle which is essential for keeping your metabolism up.

however at the end of the day, diet is the biggest factor, and it is still possible to over eat healthy food, even if you are only eating 2 meals per day. Tracking calories for a short period of time helps to get a better idea of your intake. As a log time vegetarian I assume you are eating enough protein ?

for good support on the weight loss journey I suggest starting a thread in the diary section to track progress.

I think avoiding oils and fatty foods can be very beneficial. For the loss of appetite, I'd recommend you taking B12.
