Hello! My name is Jay. I'm 22 years old, 199 lbs, and I have about 20 pounds to lose. I've been struggling with my weight for my entire life. In fact, I don't remember ever being at normal weight. Even as a baby, I looked like I was the reincarnate of Buddha, lol!

But I'm going to change my unhealthy habits today. I've always been a regular exerciser (3-5 times a week), but when it comes to eating, I'm out of control. My favorite foods are carb foods, like pasta, chips, and rice.... and cheese? Oh goodness. Don't get me started.

My goal is to be 180 pounds by the end of 2015, which is definitely a doable goal with a bit of wiggle room. If I were to lose 2 lbs a week, I should be 180 pounds in about 10 weeks, which is somewhere in mid-June. I want to do it in a healthy manner, however, so slow and steady instead of fast and crashing. I want this weight loss to be permanent.

Not only that, though - I want to start eating healthier. That means more vegetables and fruits and less fats and preservatives. My main reason for this is because I have a tendency to break out in horrible bouts of acne, and I always break out when I eat fatty foods. So I want to change that.

Why do I want to lose weight?

I just want to LOVE myself for once. I feel like I'm not confident because I've always been a little chubby, and it's given me such an "I'm-so-ugly-and-unattractive" complex. I'm sick and tired of being the "personality" guy. You know, the guy that has the personality but has nothing else going for him. Maybe I'm just being too hard on myself or maybe I just have very hurtful friends, but I want to feel like I can walk out in public and KNOW I have something to offer the eyes.

Is this vain? I hope not. I feel like everyone wants to look sexy on some level.

So, there's my goal for this lifetime. I really do hope to make some friends on these forums, too. I've been browsing for a while and a LOT of you have made some excellent losses. I hope I can do the same!

You can definitely do the same. Deciding to make the lifestyle change versus just crash dieting is the best option, in my opinion. Kudos to you for realizing that. Sounds like you have good reasons in place as well as good solid goals you want to fulfill. That kind of thinking and determination can go a long way. I'll be following your journey. Feel free to start up a diary in the diary section, can be a great source of inspiration and keeping track of things.
