Hello everyone. I am new to this forum so just wanted to say hello and see if you guys have any helpful advice/tips for me.
I am 29 year old female, 168cm tall and currently weigh 158lbs. I am wanting to loose around 33lbs and improve my fitness.

Exercise wise, i am doing:
1 hour walking a day
30 mins weight training a day (arms/back/shoulders one day and legs the next etc)
Yoga approx every second day for 30 minutes

Food:
Mostly fresh fruits & vegetables, chicken, lean beef whole grains (cereal & small amount of bread)

My problem with food is mostly carbs, i love my pasta, rice & breads but have completly cut these out now with only the occasional 1/2 cup brown rice or sandwich with wholegrain bread. If i feel i need pasta i have wholewheat pasta with flak seed oil but this is only on the rare occasion. I am trying to limit my calories to between 1000 - 1300 per day.

Just wanting some feedback to see if i am on the right track as i am fairly new to this.

Thanks! :seeya:

Sounds like you have a normal body (as compared to a diabetec body that cannot have high number of carbs - like my body). Being a normal body, one can still have pastas, breads, potatos and other high carb food items. Many athletes say that high carb foods (like pasta) before a long distrance run is good for the body. Thus, do continue to eat high carb items "when needed". Especially since your body is non-diabetec and can still comfortably process high carb food items.

Eating more veggies, more low carb fruit, more unbreaded fish (like salmon, tuna, etc.) more "real" meats, more "real" cheese, less breaded meats and less skin on poultry is always a good thing. Normal or "lower carb" diabetec diet, the body loves a "cleaner" diet. Cleaner as in less salt, less process grains, less starches, less fats and less breading. Wish more folks did a cleaner lifestyle - to reduce increase of diabetes diagnoses.

Note: I remember reading that today's average "daily food intake" contains 4 times more "carbs" then one's body really needs. If my body was normal (of my weight / size), it really only needs a max of 130 carbs per day. Bet most normal people of my age easily eat 300-400 carbs per day. And that's before they "super size" their take outs. (so sad). For my new diabetic body, it runs perfectly fine on 75-80 carbs per day - to keep my BG numbers under control. Thus, IMO even normal bodys can have less carbs per day (re: 75-150 carbs per day) and be perfectly fine.

Long post short... Keep doing what you are doing. But do remember to have high carb items when needed (like during a long distance exercise task) and do remember to maintain your new "cleaner food" lifestyle in the long run... Wish I did "cleaner food intake" lifestyle many years ago...
