I found this forum today and I REALLY hope I can get some support and motivation from it. I am 5'7" and weigh 243. I am trying to lose 50 lbs by fall but my motivation is ZERO. I WANT to lose it, but for some reason my brain is giving into my temptations and I can't seem to get out of this funk.

In 2003 I got divorced and lost 60 lbs. Part of it was the divorce diet and part was Atkins and working out. At this same time, I found out I have PCOS so eating carbs REALLY REALLY affects my body in a negative way. My body can't process and digest them properly so it is stored as fat.

I am now in a wonderful new relationship and I am very happy with my life. I bought my first house on my own, I travel by myself (I am going to Spain for a week on 4/8!!!), and I have a good job. WHY WHY WHY can't I seem to get in the proper mindset to lose these last 50 lbs?????????? I really think it is 99% mental. Anyone have any suggesstions? I know Atkins worked for me (well at least it did in the past) so should I just try to overcome the cravings and mental sabbotage and get back on track eating and working out???? How can I do this?

Well you'll have to find something that will give you a reality check. Maybe its time for a physical at the doctor. People in the medical field have no troubles being blunt with people about their conditions, when its within the persons control. Just an idea. But you need to think of something. Maybe going into the dating scene will motivate you? One way or another I'm sure you'll find a way.

hey girl! i think you're right... your problem is all mental. the most important part of losing weight is that your mind is ready for it. if you're mind isn't set that you're GOING to do it no matter what, then you'll continue to give into your temptations. and if you want to lose the weight bad enough, you'll do it. i think going to the doctor is a really good idea. eating bad and not exercising is detrimental to your health, and you're worth more than that. just appreciate your life, and make it the healthiest you can...your body is good to you, so treat it the way it deserves to be treated! :)

Welcome. I've struggled forever. Know i've lost 12 pounds in one month. This is what I do-throw out all junk food, Propolene pills, vitamins, water, and exercise 45 mins a night. I know its a lot to thow at you, but believe me it works. GOOD LUCK!!!
