Hello Everyone
My name is Jo, and I live in the UK (so I'll be talking in stones and pounds
In 1997 I was 27 years old, 16 stone and saw a horrific photo of myself at my engagement party and decided I would tolerate it no longer I put myself on a strict WeightWatcher regime and proceeded to lose 5 stone in just over a year, I also started a fitness regime which included, running and aerobics. All of this didn't happen overnight I hasten to add it was hard work. I got married in March '98 a large size 14 and double stitched zip in my wedding dress but I felt fantastic and received loads of compliments.
Unfortunately this was the start of my dieting nightmare, within a year I had regained 3 stone (42lbs) and even though had restarted WW and attended Slimming World I could not find a permanent solution to my weight problem. By now I was very enthusiastic about my fitness and this helped to keep the weight down to a certain extent, I even qualified as an Aerobics Instructor in this time. This continued for 5 years, of diet after diet, disappointment after disappointment and although I never went back up to 16 stone I was miserable and fed up with feeling obsessive about food, swinging from bingeing to starving.
I became a Weight Loss Consultant for Herbalife in 2002 and have now got my weight under control, I lost a dress size and my current weight is 12st 7lbs I would like to be 11 stone again but I am learning only through self acceptance that weight loss starts with your head. Various diets can offer you a short term solution however if you don't change your relationship with food you will forever yo-yo. I love the nutrition I receive through the Herbalife programme and the energy and health this brings me, I am constantly learning about the balance of water, carbohydrates and protein and how this is important for weight loss.
I have found that weight loss and maintaining that weight loss is about conditioning yourself about what you want your body to receive. Do I want to feel tired and lethargic? No, so probably best to leave the chocolate bar alone then. I still slip up but I'm learning all of the time and learning to love myself.
