A big hello to everyone on this forum!!. I am new to this site and thought I would write a bit about my struggle with weight.

My whole family is overweight to some degree, and I guess I am lucky because I am the slimmest by comparison. This is mainly due to the fact that having IBS stopped me working in an office setting and now I have the wonderfully active and stressless job of being a postlady. However, I still have a major problem with food. I am a typical yo-yo dieter and have gone from 14st2lbs, to 11st11lbs, to 12st 12lbs, to 11st11lbs, to 13st7lbs, to 11st11lbs (do you see a pattern emerging here!) finally back up to 13st! This is over probably an eight year period, and during this whole time I have never stayed the same weight for very long. I am either going up or going down. And it doesn't really matter what I weigh, I can weigh exactly the same, but if I am losing to get there it is great, but if I am gaining and have got there it is terrible!!

I am a compulsive overeater, and I guess what I am really striving for is some control over my eating and my life. I think it is probably a matter of getting into good habits and getting used to the fact that I am not going to be able to spend weekends eating lots of bad food if I am going to get control of my weight.

So thats me in a nutshell! Several failed attempts, but still determined that I am going to get it right one of these days!!;)

Welcome, Mrs Bear :D You have come to the right place for support and ideas :) You have a wonderful attitude and that will get you very far in this journey. If you haven't all ready, I suggest starting a diary to get help from more people more often :D

Thanks very much for all your kind comments!! I think a forum like this is just what I need for support and motivation. I think I will start a diary, BizeB, it sounds like a good idea and will hopefully keep me focussed. Also, thanks for the link Pineola. It is soooo me!!!:D

Hey M.B.! I see you talk the stone language :D

Ah.. binging.. I acsually think its one of the easiest things to get over.. if you eat enough during the day.. spread out over time.. you get less and less of an urge to binge. :)

Thanks again for the hello-s! I forget that most of the people on this web site are Trans-atlantic. I shall have to get used to speaking in pounds!:D
