Hello, everyone!

I am new here... I used to post on Phenforum.com but I never got any response, so hopefully I will fit in better here! I have some weight to lose and hope to do so in time to wear a bikini this summer.

My name is Angel (yes, my real name.... thanks a lot, mom and dad!), I am 23 and am happily married with 2 kids (a 3 year old boy and a 6 month old boy).

I have been going to the gym consistently since halloween (when baby was almost 3 months and I was cleared by the doctor), and have been going 5 days a week since before christmas (was going 3 or 4 days when I started out). I just bought 3 sessions with a personal trainer to get my butt in gear and figure out what I need. I really enjoy my time at the gym. I want to better my body.

At halloween, I was 144 pounds (weighed at the doctors office). Since then I have stopped breastfeeding so I have lost a little weight just from that, and I have lost a little from going to the gym too. As of last week (first meeting with trainer), I am 134 pounds and 21% body fat. I am 5'4". I want to get to 125 pounds and 16-17% body fat (trainer said less than that would not be healthy). I am doing 45 minutes to an hour of interval cardio 5 days a week (I prefer the bike or elliptical over the treadmill), and doing a "body sculpt xTreme" 1 hour class 2 times a week. I also do some weight machines every once in a while, when I feel like it (once or twice a week only because we already use light weights in the class).

Any honest input on my body fat percentage would be greatly appreciated. I am not happy with it at all. My trainer said it is acutally not bad at all especially since I just had a baby, but I think maybe he is patronizing me so I will buy more sessions (which he knows I can't afford).

Also any input on my exercise regimen would be greatly appreciated. I have noticed that the more cardio I do, the hungrier I am. I try to eat healthy but on the weekend my hubby (who naturally has about 5% body fat) pushes the food on me and I have a hard time resisting! LOL! Are diet pills okay? Any advice there would be good too.

Thanks from the newbie!

Angel

Actually your BF is pretty normal. Anything lower than that would be a personal preferance. There is a ton of useful information here to help you.

Welcome!

bodyfat varies on different people for instance my legs shoulders and arms were toned but i still had fat on my chest and stomach. When i had my bodyfat calculated it was 21% which according to the machine was normal. This would be the case if the fat was evenly distributed around my body but it was centered entirely on my upper half which was clearly not normal, you cant really rely on machine readouts to determine your health. just keep working towards your goals and good luck Angel

Thanks for the advice. I think my arms and legs are okay but I am 100% unhappy with my stomach. Trainer said it will take time since I just had a baby. I told him it has been 6 months so it's time to kick my butt into shape! LOL! My stomach is definitely my worst spot. Thanks for the advice.
