Hello everyone. I've never done this before!

Hello. my name is Sarah, I live in Southern Oregon. Moving to Santa Rosa soon! I am 18 and just graduated from High school! I have a wonderful family, the sweetest botfriend ever, and busy, but much loved friends. I have always been on the heavier side and have had some issues with depression and an extreme fear of being alone. I am outgoing around the right people, and shy around some. Recently my Boyfriend went to The National Gaurd Challenge program and will be gone for about five months. I want to lose weight, firstly for my health and myself, secondly for my boyfriend, and lastly because, I know this is a bit cliche, but I would love to be a plus size model. I have three sisters, two of which were "regular" models, and I would love to see more female aimed marketing campains use REAL women, it's just horrible what the current media trends are doing to young girls self images, people really should start working together to change it. Something like 60% of 10 year old girls have dieted to lose weight! That is so WRONG! So, that is a motivation for me as well, I want to be HEALTHY, I don't want to look like the girls on the cover of Cosmo, I want to look REAL. So, right now I weigh about 250 so, I want to weigh about a healthy 155 for my height of 5'9 so wish me luck, I look for ward to meeting you all and cheering you on!

Hey, nice to meet you too, looks like you are making wonderful progress, CONGATS! Just eating right and exersizing? Or are you on a diet diet? Well, whatever you're doing, it's working! Good for you!, Sarah
 
well Sarah yea and no. I'm watching my calories but I eat like 4 times a day. I norm have a couple of eggs in the morning then some type of frozen dinner for lunch or sometimes I make something my self. dinner tends to be whatever catches my eye. alot of times for a snack i have a bowl of cereal with 1% milk. Mostly I just got off most of the pure sugar carbs. no cokes not even diet um no white starches except the occasional white rice here or there more fruit and veggies. Just eating right more than anything else. what are your plans? low cal,low fat?

why don't you start yourself a diary in the diary section and we can get to know you better... it gives you a place to record your victories and the places where you need some extra support.

You're definitely in the right place for support and encouragement :)
 
we've got a thread on diet soda somewhere in here.. Diet soda isn't great for dieting because there's been some scientific evidence that it stimulates the appetite... as well as dehydrates... you really want to stick with water...
 
Hey Sarah, welcome. We are the same height and have roughly the same goal (I am only going for 153 because I go by stones and that will be 10st 13lbs and I have never seen 10st anything since I was a child)

I know that you can do this, especially with all the great support from the guys on this website ..... they are just the best ;) Good luck and go get 'em!!! :D
 
Why thankyou, I'm even starting to believe I can really do it! Which is great! I don't feel deprived anymore, and I don't feel guilty when I cheat a little. It's just gotton much easier for some reason!
 
I am new too, Sarah, but this looks like a good place to be. A lot of friendly and supportive folks here.

For me, it was all about making my mind up that I was going to do this. Once I did that, once I had set my heart on my goal, I knew it was just a matter of time and effort.
