Hello,
I am trying to lose 50 lbs and I am trying to find an app or something that can help me do the whole calorie counting thing. Ive never done it before but in order to lose weight I know I need to eat much healthier that what I do now...Being hispanic I fry alot of food :( I know terribly wrong any good books or sights that can help with meal plans??? Thanks in advance!!

I use a free account from .

Have you ever tried frying using a low calorie oil spray. I use "fry light" which I can buy here in England but am sure that other countries will have a similar product.

If you cannot find any similar product where you are - you could get a spray bottle and put oil in it. The spray would probably not be as low in calories but would be better than trying to not use much using traditional methods.

I use fry light almost every time I cook anything and since it is only 1 calorie per spray - you can put quite a few sprays on the pan and the calories will be negligible.

I lost a lot more than your 50 pounds target while cooking in this way.

There is a recipe section on this forum and you can look there for new ideas - but you will probably really enjoy cooking your favourite recipes in a healthier way.

Not sure if it's available everywhere but my friends and I use 'My fitness pal'. Great for food and exercise cals. And you can have a network of friends to share with.
Good luck

At it's most basic, losing weight is about burning more calories than you eat. That seems simple enough, but if were really that simple, none of us would have a weight problem. Too often we take drastic measures to see results -- diets, pills or those weird fitness gadgets on infomercials that promise instant success. Maybe you lose weight but what happens when you go off that diet or stop that crazy workout program? You gain it all back and more. The real secret to weight loss is to make small, lasting changes. The key is to forget about instant results and settle in for the long run.

There are many websites that list calories. Just google them. Also, many restaurants in the U.S. have calorie menus if you ask for them. I don't know if that is the same for where you live. I have found that if I keep it pretty basic for 2 meals a day, then it allows me for more options at dinner. For example, for breakfast and lunch I have 3-4 low calorie options that I switch off to suit my tastes. Then at dinner, I search the web for options or new things to try. This keeps my calorie counting to a minimum. Good luck.

I have to agree try myfitnesspal or mynetdiary to log your foods, it worked for me I'm 100 lbs down, its taken 2 years but well worth it.
