Hi marty from Ne michigan here. Seems like a real cool site. I'm really into getting in shape and I don't mean round :D

I was 322 and now I'm down to 200 and still trying to loose that last few pounds which seems like it 'll will never happen  . Anyway just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi.........marty :)

hello and welcome :)

great job on your progress. let us know how you did it?

Thanks for the welcome abear. Well lets just say I had some serious wake up calls and I decided I wasn't going to die young. Beside I wanted to see my daughter grow up and be able to play with my grandkids. I used the atkins diet and boy was it hard for a while. I gave up beer and late night snacks and really started to drink the water.

I started to walk as far as I could which was only about 1/2 mile. I then increase it till I could walk farther. Now I workout 6 days a week and even on my off day I do something like take the dog for a long walk or chase grandkids around. You know you're in shape when the kids get tired before you :D

Now I just watch what I eat and stay away from process sugars and still drink a lot of water. I do cardio for 40-50 two days and work out with light weights the next day. Take a day off but seems I'm always doing something cutting wood, housework or something to get me going a bit. I stay away from fast food unless I'm bird hunting ;)

It took me just under two years but I feel so much better and I can bend over and tie my shoes without needing oxygen. My living room looks like a gym. lol I guess the big thing is to keep moving doing something...m ;)

good for you!

i know when i took off 12 lbs i stopped huffing and puffing on the stairs, and no french fry tastes good enough to give THAT up!

Excellent Marty I'm new myself, but I've been around the block a few times. First off Marty what is your height? Also do you know your BMI (body mass index)? In other words your percentage bodyfat. This helps determine just how much more (if any) you have to go. It also gives one an idea of what one needs to concentrate on. :D

Scotchie

Hi scocthie I'm 6' 1" and now at 198 I had my body fat checked at curves a while back and it was 23.5% I know I have added muscle since then mostly my legs and arms. I'd like to lose this little fat roll below my belly button but it seems to be stuck. I worked my abs every other day but it seems like anymore weight off that area seems hard. Maybe loose skin from when I was at my heavy weight I don't know. What I'd like to do is try 190 then add 10-15 pounds of muscle. Is this the way (newbie here too) :D I guess can you loose weight then build muscle or can I do it at the same time??.......M :)
