Height clearance for elliptical

Howdy ... i have a question that may or may not be easy to answer.

I am 6 foot and the only place were I could keep an elliptical is in my basement ... which is 7 ft.

Is 1 ft enough? I tried to go to a store with a tape measure and it seems that I might fit on it ... but barely.

Is there any kind of reference or measurement that I can use to determine if I would fit?

I looked on manufacturers' sites (like NordicTrack's) but they don't say much about this.

It looks like this is an important parameter (I would think) but it's being ignored in the technical data.

I would really like to make sure that I'll be able to fit in my basement with the elliptical before buying it.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

I had exactly the same problem. I am about 5'10" and my basement ceiling was also 7'. My elliptical had a maxiumum step up height of 14 inches. I placed it in the basement between the beams so that I had an actual 92" inches from floor to underside first level floor. I have had no problem. Plus the fact that you do lean a little forward when you use an ellitpical.
To find out the actual step up height, call (or email) the manufacturer or the support desk. Usually the number is on their web site .
