Heart rate monitors

I bought a heart rate montior not too long ago. On the watch part I can input my weight and height and it will calculate based on my heart rate how many calories I burn during my work outs.

Do you guys think that's pretty accurate for me to go by what the heart rata monitor indicates?

Thanks

The number of calories you burn during exercise is also controlled by a number of other factors, like fitness level. And the most important part of exercise is not just how many calories you burn while doing it, but how many calories you burn after you finish. Your body must repair the muscles and that burns more calories. As you increase muscle mass you burn more calories and your base metabolism rate increases so you burn more calories just sitting around.

I'm a little confused. I've been working out based on how many calories i've burned during that exercise. I run on the treadmill for 30 min and i do interval training run for two minutes and i get my heart rate up to 175-180 then i walk for about three minutes and bring my heart rate down to 155-160.. three to four times a week..is this a correct way to train?

well, i don't really know what your goal is. If you are just looking to lose a lot of weight, then ur on the right track.
