Sport Healthy snacks?

Sport Fitness
Hi there,

I am quite bad at snacking during the day or on an evening. I have discovered Japanese rice crackers which I really enjoy. Are these a healthy alternative to the chocolate and bad stuff I normally snack on?

Also, what kinds of other healthy snacks are out there?

Thanks, Pocoyo.

wheat tortilla+pinto beans+microwave
whey+water
cottage cheese
peanut butter
baby carrots
boiled eggs

so many things, just browse the forums

Well, those crackers are much less calorie dense than chocolate, but it is easy to eat a lot of them. And they are probably pretty empty calories (white rice) with some salt (soy sauce). The seaweed may add a bit of other nutrients.

Low sugar dark chocolate may actually be good for you, though amounts must be limited if you are trying to lose body fat, since chocolate is calorie dense.

Healthy snacks, if you are trying to lose body fat:

Vegetables
Whole fruit
Whole wheat bread
Oatmeal
Plain yogurt
Sardines

You can look up food on ; it has a rating of how good foods are for either gain or loss.

I totally agree with tjl, but would add that you should try and see why you're snacking so much. If all you do with your evenings is to sit in front of the TV, you should seek different entertainment. Snacking is dangerous when in front of a TV...

Also, try avoid dairy snacks.

Dark chocolate - 70% and upwards can be a good sweets craving substitute.
Also canned fruit - but make sure it's in its own juice or water not in syrup.

Really nothing wrong with dairy as long as it''s low or fat free. Fat free cottage cheese low fat string cheese all good options. Yogurt as well as long as it doesn't have any added sugar.

yes but as long as your sat. intake isnt too high i dont see a problem. Doesnt it raise testostorone levels, which would increase efficiency at the gym?

Yep. Saturated fat is good, if your bodybuilding and hoping to gain muscle.
Not good if your trying to live healthy and live to 100.
