Healthy or no? Processed meat?

IMO nothing from mcdonalds is healthy

I'm a university student and I have 12 hour long days with only very short breaks and I don't live on residence. So fast food or something from the cafetaria is my only choice. Usually its subs, but you can only each so much. Any suggestions anyone?

Yeah, pack your own food. Make everything the night before so you don't have to do it in the morning.

Mcdonalds and healthy don't even belong in the same sentence (like this one. ha) or even anywhere near each other.

I eat @ the caf a lot, mine's got subs, salads, stir fry, and chicken breast.. They don't have any of that?

McDonalds is not healthy. Owned.

Anyway, my advice is, make due with what you have. McDonalds is not the best choice, but if you don't really have one, then do it. The no sauce is a vast improvement already. Just be ready to raid the market for real food whenever you have the chance. Good luck.

Healthy or no? Processed meat?

The website says that these are the nutrition facts fot the Premium Grilled Chicken Classic Sandwich w/o Mayonnaise Dressing (they don't list any Chicken McGrill...) :

Calories- 370
Fat (g)- 4.5
Saturated Fat (g)- 1
Trans Fat (g)- 0
Cholesterol (mg)- 65
Sodium (mg)- 1120
Carbohydrates (g)- 51
Fiber (g)- 3
Protein (g)- 32

I'd say of course it's McDonald's, so it's not great, but this sandwich is infiinitely better than a Big Mac (560 calories, 30 grams of fat) or a Double QP with Cheese (730 calories, 40 grams of fat)!

Ya im pretty sure thats it. It pretty much has the ingredients of a sub so i thought it would be just as healthy.

I pack my own meals sometimes, but there is only so much i can carry in my backpack all day, along with books, etc.

I read somewhere that even McDonalds' salads have 300 calories!

Yes, they range from 260 to 360 calories (unless you ditch the chicken!). That does not include the salad dressing, which has up to 190 calories and 19 grams of fat all on it's own! So, if you would choose the California Cobb Salad with Crispy Chicken and Creamy Caesar Dressing, you'd be eating 550 calories and 37 grams of fat. You may as well have the Big Mac, it has less fat!

according to the mcdonalds website, the Premium Grilled Chicken Classic Sandwich is
420 calories,
9 grams of fat (2 of which are saturated, 0 trans fat),
52g of carbs,
13g of fiber,
11g of sugar and
32g of protein

now, i'm not here to argue that fast food is just as high quality as the meat from the butcher grilled in your own home, but it almost seems as if that could fit into a healthy persons' diet. it has a moderate amount of sugar, probably from the bun, but nothing too bad. what i'm wondering is, what makes anything from McDonalds inherently bad for you? i can't say that i don't think that fast food is an integral part of the obesity epidemic, because i believe it has everything to do with it, i'm just wondering why there is a hue and cry about this sandwich simply because it's from "McDonalds"

It looks good on paper, but this doesn’t include all the stabilizers, flavour enhancers, (E) numbers, preservatives and any other chemicals they pump in to it.

MACDONALDS IS NOT HEALTHY. Eat real food.

now THAT is a reasoned arguement.

as a treat there is absolutely nothing wrong with having the above, or even a big mac or whatever you want now and again.

if you spend all your time and efforts in avoiding something you like you'll only end up binging on it at a weaker moment. have a life and have a portion of fries once in a while, no point looking amazing if you feel like a depressed, obsessive gym rat.

if you generally eat healthy and take care of yourself its more than ok to have a treat or two, just dont make a regular habit of it.

all the arguements for what is or isnt healthy change weekly (hourly on this board), yes, McDonalds' self-proclaimed healthy choices are not as healthy as they should be, but no one should ever be going to a fast food 'restaurant' for health food anyway. 75% of the visit is the enjoyment of the food, if you want salad buy some lettuce and chicken and stay in. my favourite is my local italians goats cheese and rocket bruschetta followed by a bacon pasta dish. oil-a-plenty, and far too much saturated fat; but id rather do that once in a while and enjoy myself (and be ready to face a week of protein shakes and tuna) than live as a hermit obsessed by not eating healthy all the time.

Isn't that in most chicken though, even from the grocery store?

xmkatx - shouldnt be. I only eat 100% pure beef, chichen and fish with nothing added. Tho it is harder to find meat in USA that hasnt been tampered with cos it has further to travel and its hotter. In UK I buy from a farm 20mins from my house.

you take a look at mcdonalds and how they say there is only this much fat, but i noticed something the other day. how the hell do you cram 14.8 grams of fat into a bloody bacon and egg muffin. it has the better part of the bacon in it and and egg with a bun and cheese. this helps me understand nothing at mcdonalds is what they say it is.
