Here's what my average daily diet is. How am I doing??? I'm eating super healthy and balanced, but I'm wondering if I'm just over-doing it in the amount of food I'm eating. Should I cut out a snack or just reduce the amount I'm eating overall? I want to lose about 40lbs by Sept 2011 to prepare for trying to conceive our first baby. I'm not measuring portions or counting calories, which I think could be my downfall on this diet. I also don't have a set timed schedule or scheduled meals. I graze throughout the day in the following order:

"Breakfast" (approx 11am): A fried egg sandwich on whole wheat toast with about 2 tsp of fat-free Miracle Whip and a bunch of fresh spinach leaves.

About two hours later: This when I take my vitamins and supplements, including a prenatal vitamin, calcium/D, E, C, and Holy Basil. About two pint glasses full of "Green Smoothie" which is a mix of any combinations of the following: spinach, brocolli, mustard greens, kale, parsley, cucumber, carrot, apple, banana, orange, pineapple, melon, strawberries. And then 100% no sugar added fruit juice (usually cranberry). And I add flax seeds to it for an extra Omega 3 kick.

On the way to work (approx 5pm): A Fiber One granola/oat bar.

At Work: Another Fiber One granola/oat bar.

Later at work (approx 9pm): a tuperware container of a mix of Brown Rice, cooked ground turkey and spices, shredded cheddar cheese, salsa, hot sauce, and cilantro.

Almost when work is over (approx 11pm): an orange.

At home (approx 2am): half a glass of 2% chocolate milk mixed with half a glass of skim white milk and a few slices of cheddar cheese.

I think I'm eating pretty healthy in general, I just worry that I'm eating too much.

Any thoughts or tips??? Thanks!!!

Are you losing weight? If not, you're eating too much. I think you should use an online diet journal or calorie counting software.

Are you doing any exercise?

It's possible to eat too much of healthy foods - especially things like rice and whole grain bread.

I'd sugget registering for a free account on FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal or LIVESTRONG.COM - Health, Fitness, Lifestyle | LIVESTRONG.COM and starting to log your food. This will let you see how many calories you're eating and how your nutrition levels are breaking down. Once you know that, you'll be able to see more clearly where you can make adjustments, cut back, change your nutrition, etc.

The next thing I'd suggest is checking out the various sticky posts in the exercise area of the forum (Weight Loss Through Exercise - Weight Loss Forum). There are some very good posts on exercise, both cardio/aerobic and on incorporating weight lifting into your exercise plans.
