What if someone wanted to start bulking but ate whatever they wanted to? Would this make a big difference? If someone wanted to get toned up and ate whatever they wanted would it still be possible? Does a good diet just provide faster results then a bad one?
 
if you bulked up by eating whatever you want, your training will suffer because the foods you eat are probably going to be trash and will not provide the nutrients you need to build a strong, muscular body.
fresh superfoods>trash.
so...what you put into your body affects how well it will function in a training routine.
diet is the bigger part of seeing results than what you do the gym. in other words, diet is extremely important when it comes to seeing results.
