I need some suggestions for healthy, quick breakfast foods. I have noticed that protein of some type at breakfast enables me to last to lunch without feeling hungry. NO involved with breakfast, and I am ravenous by 10:30 am.

BY the way, I hate the Power Bar thingee's, they taste like chalk to me.

Thanks for any suggestions.

do a search on threads where title contains breakfast and you'll find a bucnh of threads..

A piece of whole wheat toast, 3/4 cup egg substitute and a few pieces of turkey bacon. Breakfast in less time than it'd take to make a microwaveable lunch.

I cook up some Egg Beaters (25 calories per egg equivalent, 5-6g Protein) and 1 slice of toast.... I usually mix in about the equivalent of 4-5 eggs (100-125 calories, 20-25g Protein) and some black pepper.

All in all it works out to be roughly 250 calories and it's delicious. You could always microwave them too if you're in a rush.

a piece of tortilla, one egg (farm raised) and a wienie.

put tortilla on plate, scramble egg on tortilla, and put wienie. Microwave for 1 min. lasts me the whole morning. Well i do sit behind a desk most of the day

cheap and easy add some vegie's if you want too. wrap it up to go

*yogurt or cottage cheese with some fruit
*oatmeal with fruit (make the oatmeal in the microwave to save time)
*whole wheat toast with natural peanut butter (if you REALLY don't have time, don't toast the bread)
*hard boiled eggs with fruit (you can make the eggs ahead of time)

Recently I've been having a bowl of cereal (1 serving) with half a cup of skim milk, and a plain english muffin with peanut butter and honey on it. It keeps me full until lunch time.

I love yogurt and low fat milk as breakfast! Yummy and healthy! :hurray:

Just my two cents. ;)

Thats not very substantial. I'd get hungry almost immediatly after that.

I have 1 Cup of Oats, and heat them on the stove with 2 cups of water. I add a banana, brown sugar, sliced apple, raisins, nuts, anything really, sometimes protein powder.
It's a big meal but breakfast SHOULD be big.

Mine is a bit different than the "standard" breakfasts I see around this forum.

Right now my breakfast consists of miso soup with tofu and wakame (seaweed) , one packet of instant oatmeal made with with soymilk and half a grapefruit. I eat at ~6:30 and I don't get hungry until ~11 or so, depending on the day.

I love the miso. It is a traditional breakfast, and very filling, even without adding the tofu or wakame, but the tofu adds more solid substance and extra protein. I think a lot of people under eat at breakfast, or eat to many carbohydrates with too little or no protein/fat at all. Cereal leaves me ravenous in ~30 min, even if I eat half the box. I drink soymilk because I don't like the taste of real milk, not because of any magical nutrious properties soy has. As for grapefruit, I will probably change that to a different fruit, like oranges, even though I really like it, because it interacts with the birth control pills I'm taking.

I have a few, so bare with me.

Egg Omelet--- 2 eggs, 1/2 green peppers and 2 oz light cheese. 1
Slice of Whole Grain bread with 1tsp butter
( I love this one, only thing I modify if and just use the egg whites only)

Any choice of a high fiber cereal, 3/4 cups blueberries, 8 oz skim

1 slice whole grain bread with 1tsp butter, 1/2 grapefruit, 8 oz plain yougurt

1 cup of Raspberries ( any fruit you prefer) , 8 oz cup plain yogurt

1/2 cup oatmeal, 8 oz skim milk, 3/4 cup of any fruit your prefer.

Super-fast breakfast sandwich:

-buy the little cartons of egg whites, or just instant egg to save time
-cook up some instant egg, the equivalent of two eggs
-slice a whole grain english muffin and let it toast while you're doing this
-put a bit of margarine on the muffin, when your egg is all done, toss it on there
-grab a slide of low fat cheese (i use kraft singles) and toss it on there
Voila! speedy breakfast sandwich. Add turkey bacon if you'd like more protein.

I usually have a 400 calories breakfast, includind 70g of weetabix + milk, and a fruit (apple, orange, pear, or strawberries). It always keep me full until lunch.

That is so cool!!! Finally someone who is a bit like me. I love having a bowl of homemade vege, bean soup with a little brown rice thrown in. Otherwise I have a small salad with tuna or chickpeas. I love, love, love veges, so I eat them at every meal id I can.

And I only ever drink soy milk. Nothing but the best. Cows milk just does not make sense to me at all.

hello all,
I like my protein shake with hemp protein, chia seeds for fiber, frozen fruit and a bit of juice and water. The main important ingredient is the organic Berry Greens made by New Chapter company----it is great!

It has 20 fruits and greens, is a whole food like the miso mentioned here; and even has the fiber content of each food left intact. I have been using it for 5 years now and it gives me energy and brain fuel for the morning. Plus then I do not crave carbs for several hours, helps with weight management.
