Sport Healthy between meals and pre gym snacks.

Sport Fitness
Good evening all!

I've got my three main meals sorted however im looking for good snack ideas for between meals to keep the metabo going.

A typical day may be like this:

Breakfast: 2 bacon slices on wholemeal toast.
Snack: Bannana
Lunch: Lean chicken sandwhich. Wholemeal bread. Some light sandwich spread.
Snack: Apple
Snack: Soup (will some times add this if i'm not straight to the gym after work)
Pre Gym: Organic seed bar (from Asda they are are amazing!)
Dinner: Half a plate of salad. Grilled Chicken Breast or Lean steak.

Im happy with the above but I think I need some more snacks in there to keep things going because it can be hours between each item. any idea?
Also for pre gym looking for some more energy source ideas.

Thanks

what about hummus?? you can dip veggies or pretzels in it. delish!!!! or a handful of almonds or any other kind of nut. they make you feel full longer and they're great for you! cheese and crackers, yogurt, clif bar, berries, baked potato chips.....

i think pre-gym snacks/meals should have enough carbs to get you through your workout. and they're also easier to digest! unlike fatty foods. you can have a small bowl of cereal or oatmeal with some fruit, bagel with cream cheese, vegetable soup, 1/2 a lean meat sandwich on whole grain bread, low fat granola bar, hard boiled egg.....

You could try having your fruit with a bit of cottage cheese or a teaspoon of peanut butter... A low calorie protein bar is also very good as it keeps you feeling full longer...
I personally love a mix of a bit of oats, cottage cheese and an orange. And it really fills you up.
And it's not too many calories.
I sometimes just have a slice of wholewheat bread with smoked salmon or halibut.
And ofcourse low-fat yoghurt with some fruit thrown in :) You could also try a protein shake or just add a small spoon of protein powder to your yoghurt.
Hope this helps.

Just like @Callae said, cottage cheese or peanut butter added to some fruit is always a great snack! I love cucumber and cottage cheese or a banana with peanut butter. You can always include some favorite childhood snacks like bumps on a log : celery or apple slices with peanut butter and raisins! Fun, filling and healthy.

Egg whites are also great. You can make some hardboiled eggs at the beginning of the week and store them in the fridge till your ready to eat. Egg whites are low in calories and high in protein - they are delicious and filling.

Anytime you need a great cheese or flavor addition for a sandwich try using a wedge of laughing cow. They are full of flavor and low in calories. I love making a small sandwich out of the flatbread sandwich thins, a laughing cow wedge and a mini egg white omelette made with onions and tomatoes. Delicious! That is more of a lunch option, but still, it is wonderful and you can add any veggie (mushrooms, peppers, olives, etc.) to the omelette that you want.
