Has your routine/progress influenced others?

It seems like my progress and eating habits are starting to rub off on a few people who are close to me, and it feels kinda good :D

My dad's in construction and busts his hump day in and day out, but he doesn't eat as healthy as he should and has a BIG problem with salt, in fact the doctor told him last week that he needs to cut back. He eats lots of pre-made/processed junk, and I'm always ragging on him about it. When I first started losing weight a few years ago, he gave me hell about it saying no woman wants a skinny man ( I wasn't out to be skinny, I just wanted to lose weight!) Last week he pulled a muscle just be sneezing (hence why he went to the doctor), so I gave him a 5-day guest pass I was given after signing up at a gym and told him to give it a shot once he feels better. He always complains about back pain and used to see a chiropractor, but hasn't in who knows how long... I know my back has improved greatly since I started working out 3-4 months ago, so I figure he'll see improvement to, if he goes anyway...
He seems to be eating healthier too... Less processed crap and lots more lean meats/salads/veggies, and of course less salt now :)

And my "adopted step-mom" (Very, very close friend of mine's mom) has started going on walks with me and my dog a few times a week, I give her hell if she tries to make an excuse not to go, ha. She mentioned she's been eating healthier too, and is considering joining a gym again.

Makes me feel good to know I'm influencing others with what I do, and hopefully they'll stick to it, and maybe improve, and see results themselves....

I hope they and you stick to a healthy lifestyle / habbit. If you do, more power to you. Read somewhere that working out makes you appear younger.

Very cool to hear. This forum has actually helped me. I started reading some of the journals on here and that has motivated me to try to step up my workouts and push myself a little more. Once I started doing a Journal I feel a little more committed to actually measuring my progress.

I have seen people around me start to make some changes. Especially at work. I started going to the Y right around the corner from the office here about 2 years ago. I lost about 25 lbs and you could really tell. Now there are about 6 other people from the office here that go to the Y - not sure if it is directly because of my influence, but it is good to see other people getting to the gym and getting healthier.

I agree, seeing pictures/journals of others has helped me believe "I can make myself look like that". And yeah, I hope folks like my dad stick to it and keep improving. I'm not perfect myself but have improved greatly, so I can only hope... I try to share everything I've learned with him too, whether it's nutritional or exercise information. He's my pop, I want him around for a while :)

I read a pretty interesting article in either Men's Health or Men's Fitness magazine. It was about a guy who talked his dad into walking with him for exercise for just 30 days. His dad continued to exercise with him and they both got healthier and really got to know each other on a whole different level - really a cool story. Family is important, glad to hear you are helping them get healthy.
