handstands and other static hold positions

i am wondering how many times per week it would good to practice handstands for time.
i am already on a weight training program which has military press 1 time per week.

my concern is to avoid over training while improving my proficiency at hand balancing. i have also heard the shrugging out the shoulders while in a handstand will strengthen the shoulder girdle in general. so i am also treating it like a strength building exercise.

i am currently practicing as often as possible-around 4-5 times a week. however, i just do them intermittenly throughout the day, like i am greasing the groove.

any tips, or thoughts on the frequency of these?

i am also desiring to be able to do both a bent arm press and a straight arm press to handstand. i have been practicing for several months now(~3).

i also would like to work the planche variations(i am on the simple frog stand for now). how often should i work these?

im not sure if flyingfree is still here or not, but man would i like his advice!

Can you do handstand push ups? How many?

Some argue that bodyweight exercises are 'different' and can be performed more often, without over training, although I expect it is dependent on the number you can perform. If you can do more than 12-15 reps then it becomes more of an endurance exercise and less of a CNS stressor.

Also, some argue that isometric, and maybe even negatives, are 'different' and can be performed more often without over training.

you won't overtrain as you are not training your delts by handstanding.
as long as you dont spend 3 hours a week by handstanding it's nothing wrong with it.
