Hand Weights

If I use hand weights when I walk on my treadmill but my arms are at my side rather than bent in a 90 degree L shape does it make any difference?
 
if you are walking at a decent pace, you will get a much better workout with your arms at 90 degrees, plus, it's better form and you will actually be able to go faster with less work from the legs
