Half Marathon

Yesterday at seven in the morning I ran the Woodbury Country Mile HALF MARATHON. My wrestling coach and cross country coach ran the race as well. The weather was cool so i didn't start to sweat until the fourth mile. After about a third of the race was when i really started to cramp up. I got a cup of water or Gatorade at every mile except the last two. Despite the pain in my knees and ankles, I honestly felt fine. At first I thought about going at a slow pace but then I thought "Nah! My goal is to get a trophy." Of course I didn't know that the only trophies went to the overall female and male winners until I crossed the finish line. I ended up crossing the finish line at a time of one hour and forty-three minutes. I thought it was going to take me a couple of hours so i was really pleased with my time. I ended up getting a bronze medal for finishing third in my age group(15-19 years of age). Overall, it was a great experience and I encourage everyone to do at least one in their lifetime.

PS- I iced my knees and ankles like crazy that evening.

Congrats to hear. I've always wanted to try a marathon, but with my ADHD, I'd be bored to death...longest I've ran is maybe 7-8 miles for x-country. Try the leadville race in colorado...100 miles
