A recent European study demonstrated that physical exercise for thirty minutes only have an effect in reducing the weight comparable to exercise the same activity for an hour a day.

The study, recently published American physiologists Gazette, that researchers at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen have the follow-up of 60 people with obesity, but are in good health for more than 13 weeks.

The respondents were divided to two groups: the first application of physical exercise for an hour a day, and the second for thirty minutes only. The members of the two groups has to wear a recording device heartbeat rates and count the calories that the body loses as a result of exercises, where the research team discovered that thirty minutes of physical exercise enough to lose weight.

Said Mads Rocnkeld, PhD student, Department of biomedical sciences university "On average men who practiced physical activity for half an hour a day got rid of 3.6 kg of weight during the three months, while practicing physical activity for an hour a day got rid of 2.7 kg only of their weight."

"We found that people who practiced sport for thirty minutes a day burned more calories than expected from the sports program, which put them, but we found that exercise for an hour of time has not provided any deficiency in a person's weight or body fat. Men who practiced exercises for maximum time lost less weight relative to energy that Hrkoha through running or riding or kayaking. "

The researchers believe that the explanation lies in the fact that exercise for half an hour to be more practical, and makes people more willing and able to do more physical activity after the end of exercise daily. It is also exercise for an hour a day might be more willing to eat more of the food that does not achieve the desired result of weight loss.

This researcher proposes another optimal way to lose weight in a way to overcome the narrow some time, which is to be done through they go to work, for example, "We have won half the battle."

Or you can do HIIT training and be done in 15 minutes and less. All a matter of intensity and what one prefers.

Good Work medhamime!

I do agree with you that half hour of workout in a day will help you to lose weight. I do believe that 1/2 - 1 Hour workout will keep you healthy.

Nice information shared medhamime! Its very useful for all who work a lot and feel that they haven't lost more.

When I went to cardiac rehab, the physiologist told me that you need 150 minutes per week for health, and 300 minutes per week for weight loss. I think it varies from person to person, depending on what exercise you're doing and the intensity. Also, if you're eating too much of the wrong thing, all the exercise in the world is not going to give you a weight loss, but it will be benificial to your health. Because of my age and health problems, I exercise at a low intensity, but I feel that I'm getting more benefit from that low intensity than I would if I was sitting in my recliner. Sometimes, high intensity exercise stresses the body and that stress can do more harm than good.

300 minutes per week sounds a lot. I've done very well with much less, and actually noticed a stall in weight loss when I did too much. Also, exercise is not essential for weight loss, so really, every minute that somebody exercises will be an added bonus.

i believe that something is better than nothing.... a little bit of exercise per day... even if it's just forcing yourself up the stairs a few more times is better than sitting on your butt thinking about a trip to the gym that you end up not doing.
I've a long journey in weight loss ahead of me (again: typical yo-yo dieter here) but this time serious (for health reasons and to avoid surgery) and as i have no fitness levels to speak of i'm starting slowly and (hopefully) building up.
Have just joined here to keep my motivation and interest levels up

The general philosophy is that if you consume less calories than your burn each day/week/whatever, then you will lose weight irrespective of how much exercise you actually achieve. A half hour of exercise each day suits me nicely.

Any movement is better than no movement at all. You can overdo your workouts and burn yourself out. A half-an-hour is plenty of time to start building up muscle. Muscle burns the fat as well.
