I'd like to recommend the Hackers Diet. It's a weight loss plan from an engineer's perspective, available for free at HackersDiet.com. It's basically a calorie monitoring plan, focused on your body's feedback and hunger levels.

There are great charting tools and the author emphasizes using a weighted moving average for your "current weight", and provides excel tools for doing so. This means you can weigh yourself daily if you want, but don't have to become discouraged at daily ups and downs.

It is working for me because I can eat foods I shouldn't on the rare occasion and not feel bad.
