Gym lock - key vs. combination

I have a combination lock in my gym bag in my office; thankfully I have had very few Senior Moments when I forget my combination and am left stranded.

I need a lock to keep in my at-home gym bag, I tried a Programmable (recommended to me on this site) but after a few uses, it stopped working. I need something reliable.

Just wondering what you all recommend - one with a key (that I will have anxiety about leaving someplace) or one with a number combination (that I guess I will keep in my sneakers).

I vote combination lock. I have always used a combo lock and really like it. The only issue is getting a new lock with a new combo. This makes remembering the combo extra tough. Talking with a swimming buddy today, he mentioned he had the same combo lock since high school. This really helps with remembering the combo :)
 
yeah, well, that would have been fine with me too, but one of my kids lost mine and anyway, as i said - i need a 2nd one. i just don't trust the changeable ones any more.
 
combination. its not that hard to remember 3 numbers. I still remember the combo to my first bike lock in elementary school, and i'm 32 now. A 4 6 3
 
I have this green lock where you can arrange the letters to something yourself.

However, if you honestly forget, I say write the combo on the sides of your shoes.
