Hello,
My name's Guy Bourne and i'm looking to do a run to raise money for charity, the background is that im looking to go to South America to teach disadvantaged children. In raising funds for this I wanted to raise money for a UK education charity as well (ACE and 4children are the top two in my mind at the moment). So, im looking to do a run from Birmingham NEC to the Cardiff Millenium Center, as this represents my academic journey through life so far, being born in South Wales and studying at the University of Birmingham.
The length of the run according to google maps is about 121 miles, so i'd imagine quite a few more when going while avoiding the main motorways.
At the moment im about 85kg and I run for 1 hour twice a week and go to the gym for weight training 3-4 times, so i'm not really at all clued up on how to;
a) eat
b) train effectively
for long distance running.
I've got over 4 months to train, but i'm aware that i'd have to start training asap if i'm to be able to do it.
The kind of things I need to know are,
i) what and when to eat (when more specifically for during the run)?
ii) how many days is it healthy to do the run over (my guess would be 5-6 days?)?
iii) what will i need to do to get my body ready for it?
iv) Anything else you guys think i need to know!
Thanks in advance for your help!!!
Guy
