Well..while I was at the store looking at gum it varried from 5 cals to 25 cals per piece, and wondering....how can it be? How do you necessiarily recieve the cals? and Does Gum make you gain weight..? A bit of a odd question, I was just wondering...I do chew sugar free though and hubba bubble on rare occasions ^_^

Gummies...I see these worms, bears, etc. and look at calories...say 150, but no cals from fat..0 zip, does this make it a decent snack? I mean..on a day I want to treat myself it would be better than a hershey bar..

and last but not least..I recently became addicited to fruit, mostly bananas (spelling >< lol) Strawberries and Apples..now I usually like eating fruits during Breakfast and lunch...but will over eating on these fruits make me gain any serious weight? There are times when i go on the scale and its a bit over what i want and I wonder if its because the fruits I eat..usually i have one with breakfast, lunch and for a snack later on..

THANKS TO ALL WHO COULD HELP!...!

NEWT!

Of course you can gain weight from gum...I am not an expert, but one may burn enough calories simply chewing the gum to negate out the calorie surplus.

A lot of manufactures like to advertise gummy snacks has "no fat". While this is true, all you are doing is basically consuming sugar.

Some fats (unsaturated, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated) are good and essential to a healthy diet.

In my personal opinon, its not the best snack option out there (because it lacks essential vitamin and nutrients), but has long as you are obtaining all your other macronutriends (protein and good fats) then it shouldn't be a problem, if you can fit it in.

And on a side note, I find it humorous they advertise no fats. Diet is based on CALORIES! I have seen similar gummy snacks advertised as "no cholestrol" or "no trans fats", I think this makes better sense.

The fruits, I urge you, if you enjoy fruits consume them. What makes you gain weight is excess calories, as long as you have a general idea of how much calories you are eating, you should be fine. If one would consume (in excess) 3500 calories of apples or 3500 calories of fat, they would, therotically, gain a lb either way.

Calories are calories. If you are eating more than you are burning off you will gain weight. Doesn't matter where they are coming from or how healthy they are.

Just make sure you factor the calories you are getting from fruit into your diet plan.

Yeah I don't understand the fear of fruit. Look at the harsh truth section under the "crazy sleepy" thread. I posted that I sometimes eat 4 servings of fruit or berries per day and at least one person got pretty freaked out about it, acted like that was just way too much.

Because you're basically drinking your own sugar flavored spit. :drooling:
