Sport Gum

I'm not sure this is the right place for this, but I don't believe this fits in any of the other threads. I noticed that on the cover of my chewing gum (it's sugar-free) it says it is not a low calorie food, but on the back it says it has 5 calories. I'm confused, since when is that not low? sorry if this question sounds silly, it's just been bugging me for a while now. Is it or is it not a low calorie food?

Well 5 calories is like nothing...so it's low calorie...

Depending on where the gum is manufactured or where you bought it... there may be regulations in place that forces the gum company to put that on its label.

If a product has more than 20% of its carbs from sugar, then it is not recommended as a "healthy" food. Perhaps this is where the label stems from??

So it may be sugar free (means less than X% of it contains sugar, but since it's only 5 calories that may mean more than 20% of total carbs are from sugar). Gosh this sounds confusing...lol.

Don't worry about it. It's a piece of gum :)

I don't think calories is the issue. It is not a low calorie food, because it ain't food ;) But it is still low calorie.
