LET'S HEAR WHAT YOU ALL HAVE

I've been playing guitar for about 8 years, piano on and off for 10 years, and soon I plan on getting myself a drumset. My setup sucks ass, because I don't really like spending a lot of money. However, I do plan on upgrading in the future after saving up several paychecks.

Right now all I own is a small acoustic guitar, which was my first one. I also have a , as well as a customized . And yes, ...but it's 15-watts, which came with the Fender Squier package that I receieved as a gift.

What I lack in my collection, I make up for in skill and performance. :)

Did you put those decals on your guitars? They both have the stripes down the corners of them. I've seen those amps before too. The strat-packs :)

This is my set up right now for my mini studio. Nothing to crazy, but good for demo work.

Guitars-
Electric-Goldtop, American Strat, and a peavy predator (not pictured) that was my first guitar
Acoustic-Martin, Washburn Festival Series, cheap Ibanez
Amps-Fender Blues Jr., Fender Ultimate Chorus (crap for dirty but such a sweet clean), Fender Acoustica, and cheap crate (not pictured) that was my starter
Pedals-Boss delay, Wah Pedal, Rat Pro, Line 6 Pod 2.0, Boss reverb
Keyboard-Korg Stage Piano 88-Keys
Various recording gear, mics, mixer, cables, sound cards things like that.

Oh and when I get the money this is the new addition to the family.

Exactly right.

And my older brother "borrows" my guitars from time to time for no reason...and one day, I find stripes on both my guitars. They look good (to me, anyway), so I didn't complain. :)

The ones on my acoustic are actually VERY carefully cut elecrical tape, while the ones on my Fender are spraypainted. He actually did a good job. No mess whatsoever.

Within these next few months I plan on getting myself either a Fender Jaguar for that surf guitar sound, or a Gibson Les Paul like I've always wanted. Maybe a few effects pedals here and there...and definitely a newer amp.

I'm thinking about getting a delay soon.

I got me a Fender twin reverb tube amp from way back.. It has some serious juice!
I also have a black De Armond and a spanish classical. been playing by ear for as long as I have played, but I decided 2 days ago to take lessons so that I could read music. I can play, but I want to build up the skill :D

I have turntables....does that count? haha

Only if you have two of them and a microphone..

theleip - Have you tried the new POD XT? All of our recordings are done with that, and the new amp models and effects are amazing. You got a pretty good setup though. And, I completely agree about those chorus amps :) My clean channel kinda suxors on the 5150, but once I get a boss chorus and delay, I should be up to par :) Also, saw that Martin ...and those D-28's are WONDERFUL accoustics. I've always wanted one. Plus, the older they get, the better their tone quality.

Niceone, those Fender twin reverb amps have a great gainy sound for classic rock. I bet it sounds great with that De Armand. Oh, and if you want to work on your technique, try this DVD "John Petrucci - Rock Discipline". You can find it on Amazon for like $50. It comes with a book that has tablature and real sheet music so you can use that to practice your site reading too. Also, get the "Guitar Grimoire - Scales and Modes" That's a great book that explains some building leads and chord/mode correlation. It's the BIBLE for guitarists.

Sweet!
Tony thanks my man. I need some structure in my life so the lessons will be a good thing, but I will check out the book and the dvd you postes as well. Appreciate that..

That DVD and book helped me out SOOO much. I didn't realize that I never knew how to properly train my hands for guitar. For about 7 years, I just played by ear and "wanked" on guitar even though I didn't know what I was doing. After getting that Rock Discipline video (it's even better if you like Dream Theater because he is their guitarist and they are amazing musicians), I learned how to take advantage of metronomes, finger stretches, warming up, and it opened up my thinking on how to arrange notes and fills. Good stuff. The Guitar Grimoire is the breakdown of EVERY scale/mode that is in existance today (minus the one that Steve Vai came up with, but only he uses....haha). It is good for explaining some theory and relations as well.

I missed this thread. My equipment is really low as I've leant some of it out and have yet to get it back. I loaned out my Peavey Special 212 and...I can't remember the name of the guitar but they were sued by Gibson and went out of business. And I lent out my BC Rich warlock guitar.

Anyway...right now I have a
Line 6 amp

Ibanez EX170 w/these modifications-Carvin Wilkinson tremolo, Schaller tuning keys, Seymour Duncin Screamin Demon George Lynch double humbucker in the bridge position and a Seymour Duncan PAF Seth Lover double humbucker in the neck position. The frets have been filed down, it has new wiring, the action lowered, and all new knobs. Also, the pickups were installed backwards rather than traditional.

Ibanez AE15TS acoustic

I have a slew of pedals from Vox, DOD, and BOSS

I missed this thread too.

I started a looooooong time ago. Lemme think...must have been about 8 days or so?

For my equipment, I have a Yamaha EG 112C, Peavey amp, and a nice, black, round chord :D. Yea, I'm a badass.

Idc if I have crap equipment, I still like playing it and have been learning a good amount. I'm gonna keep up with it cause it's fun and I know I can be a great guitarist. Oh yea, I'm def gonna be a rockstar, but don't worry... I'll provide autographs for a few of you.

haha..Merc you crack me up man. I know that if you practice right, and stick to it, you will surpass me at guitar in probably 6-8 years. That sounds like a long time, but there are a ton of things to learn to be a well versed guitarist. You gotta listen to everything and learn techniques and styles of all kinds before you will be satisfied...haha...trust me.

haha, only 8 years huh?

I understand though, every great guitarist didn't just become it, they had to work hard over the course of several years. I've been starting to make some changes recently in my life. This was one that I've wanted to do for a while, and I enjoy doing, and have influences from my brothers so the drive will always be there. I can only hope to be on your level in a few years Tony. :)

Honestly, if you have a book that shows you the basic chords and stuff, then you are good to go. First off, learning the chords, learning to strum/pick correctly, and training your ear to listen for "bum" notes (off key or not picked correctly). A guitar instructor would be kind of useless right now since you might not absorb everything they have to offer. I'd hold off on one for like 6 months or so unless you are afraid to learn "bad" technique.
