Sport Ground turkey vs ground beef

Sport Fitness
Of the two, Ground Turkey is best, around the same amount of protein with usually less the saturated fats,

Make sure to ask the butcher if the turkey is ground up skinless. Has even less fats when ground skinless. If not, you can also ask some butchers to grind up the turkey without the skin for you.

thanks

Thats what I wanted to know. The best part, as well, is the ground turkey is about $.70-$1.00/lb cheaper, and my wife and I really like it. It does well as a substitute for GB.

Thanks

It doesnt have the consistency of beef though. You cant just make patties and throw it on the grill.

I would choose the ground beef. I can only get 93% lean at my supermarket though.

depends on the ground turkey. sometimes you need a little egg white or bread crumbs mixed in so it doesn't crumble.

and make sure its' 97% lean ground turkey BREAST. if its not breast, then its likely a mix of white and dark meat, and that gives you a little less benefit over the saturated fat content compared to beef.

I get 99% fat free ground turkey often, when I do get ground beef it's 95/5 - and even then the ground turkey is "better" for you. I've made some amazing turkey burgers with it too.

A good recipe if you'd like: a pound or so of the ground turkey, a couple of slices of soaked bread (whatever kind you use) squeeze it into a ball (make a fist) and tear off little pieces to mix with the turkey, 2 eggs or 4 egg whites, parmesan cheese (I've used fat free and it's fine - but good luck finding fat free parmesan), and whatever other spices you want and throw it down.

Take all of the ingredients into account for your diet though, bread is clearly carb source with the first ingredient being flour, 2 whole eggs and you'll get a few more grams of sat fat, the cheese...more fat, so, this won't fit into your diet well if you trying to lose weight/cutting/fat loss...etc.

but it is fun.
