Hello everyone.

I am new to the community here and I just wanted to introduce myself. I recently just started healthy eating to ensure a more healthier lifestyle and a longer life in general. Currently, I am obese and I'm a bigger guy. Losing weight has always been something I actually wanted to do, but always found every excuse in the book to avoid eating healthy, and continue my old habits.

I joined this community because I feel as if this is the right place for me to be so I can communicate with others while also sharing my progress. I know that this journey is going to be long, but I definitely think I can pull through and actually commit to this healthy lifestyle and live a better life. While trying not make this introduction to lengthy, I just wanted to make something short and sweet so that some of you can get to know a little bit about me.

I hope to make some awesome friends along they way, and I can't wait to see what the future holds!

Hey DS, welcome!

Sounds like we have a few things in common, I am at 306 lbs but only 5' 7", so a very obese man. I started a little over 3 weeks ago and am down about 15 lbs. Most of that came in my first week, I did a very low calorie kick start, but now am on a more reasonable diet with a 1,600 to 1,800 cal a day target. I started a diary and post my food and calories everyday, that I can recommend to you, it has been very helpful for me. It keeps me accountable and I've gotten a lot of good advice and support from others here.

I am not one to try and advise others on diets, I am not sure the low cal kick start is for everyone, but so far it seems to have worked for me. Others here with more experience and wisdom will probably chime in.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response!

Right now, my TDEE is currently: 4,205 Calories.

So, to put myself into calorie deficit to lose weight, I cut that calorie intake to 3,705 calories which is a 500 calorie cut.

I'm currently doing the 40/40/20 macro-nutrient split. Which goes: 370g protein, 165g fats,185g carbs.

This way, I cut down more on my carbs, and I'm more focused on the protein and fat part of my daily calorie intake goal.

My TDEE will soon change, thus giving me my new calorie intake number to work with. I'm hoping everything goes according to plan.

Hi, I am new here and I am really glad to join this community. I hope I can learn a lot from other weight-losers.
Some info about me - My height is 5 feet 2 inches, weight is 81.5 kg and age 24. I started my weight loss journey around 2 months ago. I have not lost any unusual amount of weight yet but I hope I will be able to lose some weight.
Right now, I am doing cardio and weight-training every alternate day. I hate doing weight-training as it drains all my energy but I am still trying to stick with it.

Yes, weight training will definitely wear you out. I remember when I was doing weight training everyday during off season for football, I would go home unable to lift my arms because they were so sore. Weight training is definitely hard in the beginning, but once you start getting use to tearing up your muscles and then they repair, you will get stronger, and you will be able to handle a lot more than you think was possible.

Definitely keep up the good work. The most important days to hit the gym, is the days you don't want to go. It shows discipline, and your true efforts of changing not only your mental healthy, but yourself in general.

Thank you very much for the response!

I totally agree with you, my arms also feel so sore after weight-training but I am not going to give up.

Welcome to the forum! I see you listed your macros.. when you say you're cutting down on carbs, I hope you are not cutting out the fruit and veg too much! Also, what are you doing for exercise?

Hey, dsmith454!
Having an accountability network can not only be super motivating and rewarding, but also key to holding yourself accountable when the going gets tough! Looking forward to seeing your progress :)
