Greetings from newbie~

Hello all,
My name is Eric, I'm 26 years old and for the first time in my life I've really decided to make myself more fit and healthier. I'm about 5'10" and weigh about 230 lbs. I'm really new to the fitness and training community so I would like to hear some suggestions from fellow mentors. My current goal is get fitter and keep my weight at around 220lbs. I've heard about people metioning losing fat but not the muscle, and I would like to know how I can get started in do that without losing too much weight. I do plan to join a gym and if anyone can help me figure out some kind of routine, such as the machines I need to work on etc. so I can get started. Of course, since I'm totally new to this, any explaination on the special terms or machines would be really appreciated.
It feels great to join the community!
Thank you!:)

welcome to the board :)

Welcome to the forum, Eric. You would be better off to use free weights/ dumbbells for your wrokouts. You can incorporate some machine exercises also, but free weights should be the majority. Check out Tony's link, you'll find tons of exercises there. Also clean diet and lots of water is vital.

Welcome!!!!
