Green Tea Supplements

I read an article in a magazine saying that green tea supplements will help you loose weight ... i've been thinking of taking these for a few years in general b/c of articles i've read saying that they are great anti-oxidants and lower the chance of getting cancer ... anyone have any info on this? Anyone take them? I do not want to take anything that i can physically tell i am taking (like ripped fuel, etc) ... i'm looking for something like a multi vitamin feeling :)

cutting calories and exercising is IMO, the only way to lose weight. i have heard green tea is good for you, i dont know about the pills though.

The active ingredient in Green Tea is EGCG. Recent studies have suggested its antioxidant properties may help prevent and treat Cancer - but the FDA doesn't endorse this yet. I do believe that EGCG in its raw form (which it what you're getting in green tea supplements) is currently used as a supplimental treatment in cancer patients, along with CoQ10.

Green tea does have mild appetite suppression properties, and this seems to be why some people recommend it for weight loss. Unless you're getting tons of caffeine in your green tea supplement (very unlikely) you shouldn't experience any more jitteriness than you would from a cup of green tea.

I reccomend trying green tea before the pill, if you haven't already. With honey it's soooo good.

^ they do.

and green tea is a great idea. - i have the tea itself rather than the pill - but the taste often puts me off

I drink white tea, no sugar. It's a more pure form of green tea (more pure in the sense that the tea is picked with its blooms, so you keep more of the isoflavins and essential oils). It also has a naturally sweeter taste than green tea, which tends to be earthy.

I too enjoy the White Tea, Celestial has a white tea with pear and vanilla that is very good, they also make a honey lemon ginseng green tea that I like. Both available in the supermarket and I like them plain with no sweetening. Many fancy blends available if you happen to wander into the Asian groceries nearest you but best to have some idea what you are looking for and someone that speaks or reads the languages to help you out.

I started on Celestial Seasonings White Tea, but I found out that while it's a great White Tea, most others are even better ;) I can't remember off the top of my head which brand I prefer, but I'm pretty sure it's Triple Leaf Teas White Peony Tea.

Green tea has been part of my weight loss for about 6 months now. I drink it hot in the winter and make sun green tea in the summer. I add a bit of honey and lemon as well Salada is what I use I'm having a glass right now. If it's a bit bitter for you try a little splenda.......m :D

from the nutrition info on my box of Celestial Seasonings

0 calories
og fat
0g carb
0g protein
contains caffeine

They put green tea extract in a good number of fat burners so I would imagine it must help cut weight (it does have caffeine a fairly safe stimulant), plus its good for you and tastes good, Can be hot or cold too, pretty much can't go wrong I'd say.

I'll look for it next time I am in China town, I am always up to try something tasty. We are still part of the British Commonwealth so the supermarkets here all have lots of really sour English tea, Indian teas, and one or two types of Asian tea.

I like "dragon well" green tea, I make around 4-600 OZ's at a time. the kind I get is all natural no additives just the plant in a bag. I got it at tentea or somthing like that. it end up being around 50-80 cents a gallon.
