Green Tea as a source of Anti-oxidants

What do you guys think about green tea as a valuable source of Anti-oxidants?

I keep hearing its pretty much one of the richest sources of anti-oxidants that you can take (even if it doesn't make a bodybuilder look so macho when he's holding a cup).

Surely this makes green tea a suplement that bodybuilders should consider???

Green tea is very, very rich in flavenoids and polyphenols - specifically epicatechin (EC), epicatechin gallate (ECG), epigallocatechin (EGC) and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is one of the most potent antioxidants on the planet and it's found in Green Tea.

Green tea also promotes probiotics in the intestine, and fights harmful bacteria that cause indigestion and diarrhea.

A study conducted by the University of Geneva in Switzerland showing that the caffeine and flavonoid combination found in green tea "increase basal metabolism, fat burning, or both' resulting in faster weight loss without the risk of harmful products or fads."

Carb-watchers and diabetics can also benefit from drinking a cup of green tea because it inhibits the activity of amylase, an enzyme that aids in the breakdown of carbohydrates, thus reducing the absorption of carbohydrates during digestion. Lower carbohydrates mean lower blood sugar levels, which in combination with the pancreatic benefits of green tea, leads to balanced insulin for diabetics. Diabetics at risk of renal failure can also benefit from the polyphenols that can improve kidney cell function.

Green tea is a great source for vitamins D, K, B-2, carotenoids and many minerals.
