Hello, I am on a low carb diet right now and I am looking for a really good protein shake that has no carbs and won't have me bulk up like a woman body builder! Just looking to have something for lunch to keep me full and have after my workouts. I currently workout 3 days out of the week, sometimes 4. I do 2 days of strength training, 3 days of cardio. I work one day with a 30lb kettlebell and the other strength day I work with only two free weights, each 10lbs. I just want something to incoporate into my diet because sometimes I do not have time to create a good lunch. Thanks! Oh and high in calories is quite okay, since I am doing a lot of workouts, its important for me to have high calories in those days!!! =)

I like to go to true protein's site - you can come up with your own mix for whatever you want. High/low calories whatever you want :)

hey jeanette!

thanks so much for your answer. I went to the site and I freaking love it! its not even that pricey either. i showed my bf and he loves it too!

Now, since I am on this low carb diet, I picked a forumal that is 80% protein and 20% carbs. Do you think that is good enough for a post workout mix?

I think that should be fine :) Especially since you're not exactly trying to buff out!

Glad you liked the site! It's a lot cheaper than going to GNC or something too.

What do you normally do, as an example? I'm having some trouble trying to make a good mixture. I want to make something for the morning to make me feel pretty full and something for a postworkout =)

btw, its A LOT cheaper. i was amazed what I got for 5lbs!!!

Depending on whether it's hot or cold, I do one of two things :)

Cold outside - package of Swiss Miss diet hot cocoa (25 calories) + half scoop of whey protein isolate. May double this if you want more.

I also have a protein 'lava cake' recipe that I use with a mixture of chocolate casein and whey I found online... If I'm really splurging I throw in peanut butter chips. I use 2/3 casein and 1/3 whey. http://www.pinkdumbbellexplosion.com/protein-chocolate-lava-cake/ (This may be down, the site was in maintenance mode, so here's the google cache - Protein chocolate lava cake recipe )

During warmer weather I usually mix in a scoop of the whey, about 4 oz of water (give or take, I go by texture) a handful of ice, and a handful of frozen strawberries & pineapples or cherries and whirl them in a blender. I also add a bit of splenda w/fiber and a dash of vanilla extract. Psyllium husk or inulin if I really want the fiber :) I find this makes a really quick and easy breakfast!

Er, to clarify, I found the recipe online, not the mix of chocolate casein and whey :) I have a big thing of chocolate casein from Optimum Nutrition I bought ages ago, and I use it with the unflavored whey in the mixture. Works pretty well! Just doing all casein or all whey has some funky texture issues. All whey comes out all kinds of spongy...
