Good Protein Source

Im looking for some good sources of protein. But i am unable to find anything yet. If any of you guys have any experience/ recommendations of what you use for workouts i would be happy if you could tell me them. Also if your going to recommend some protein powders please only tell me if its available in Australia.

Also I am just taking raw eggs at the moment as some source of protein but im not sure when you are suppose to take them is it before or after a workout? And how many would you recommend...?

So yes if you could post some information on the above questions that would be great.

Cheers

A rough guide is....

Basically you want at LEAST 1g of protein for every pound you weigh, and thats at least.

So if you weigh 200lbs, you want to consume 200g plus of protein daily.

Also eggs are good, but they only have roughly 6g of protein in them, so you need to consume quite a few.

Protein foods:

-Chicken/turkey breast: roughly 30g protein
-Average Can of tuna (90g drained weight i think): Roughly 30g
-Any other lean meats: Steak is good :D
-Cottage Cheese
-milk: 40g plus per litre
-nuts

Theres many foods, fish and lean meats are probably your best sources.

Ideally you want to consume protein every 2-3 hours or so.

but i didnt get my Q answered about whether you need to eat protein before or after workouts...? Maybe a protein shake for an example when would you drink/eat that?

I now a days have a protein shake prework out, and a recovery drink post workout.

Id always definately have some protein and carbs post workout.

Something just came across my mind do pies have any protein source in them whatsoever or are they just full of junk? and processed stuff...?

Bought pies do have a small amount of protein. I think the protein/carb/fat (gms) would be something like 2/40/14. A lot of bought pies are high in trans fats and saturated fats, though.

Homemade pies probably have similar P/C/F values, however, you have control over the amount of sugar (carbs) and what type of fat you use for the pastry (shortening or lard). They also taste a whole lot better ;)
