Sport Going to the toilet so often.

Sport Fitness
Hey all,

I'm having troubles gaining weight and I think it might have something to do with going to the toilet so often. I think my metabolism is so damn fast or something. I eat sooo much food, good healthy food too. I think roughly like 200g protein, 350g carbs, 100g fat. I go for number 2 like 3-4 times a day. Usually about half hour after most meals. And find myself going for number 1 like 3-4 times a day aswell. It feels as though food is just going straight through me, any ideas how I can retain it better? Would it be all the protein Im eating thats making me go to the toilet so often? Or what aspect of a diet would do that? It feels like im eating non stop and cant put on a single kilo. Im 20 yrs old, weigh 72kg and go to gym about 4 times a week. I used to eat a certain amount of food, like 180g protein, 300g carbs, 70g fat (i keep track) and I didnt gain a kilo so I got on these forums and ppl said eat more, so I upped my intake and my weight hasnt been any different from when I was eating less. Ive been on this diet for about 2-3 months and not a single change. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Do you drink coffee, or tea, or anything that has caffiene it it? This is a mild duritic, and will make one piss more often than normal

Having 3 or 4 bowel movements a day does seem excessive.
Urinating 3 or 4 times a day is WAY below normal.
Have you talked to a doctor?

I have about 2-3 cups of coffee a day so ill cut them out.

Havent seen a doctor yet though, I was going to see if I can figure it out myself first, because I figured it could be something simple nutrition wise.

I have a big bowl of all bran and wheat toast in the morning, pasta/spaghetti at lunch, wheat crackers at lunch and usually pastas or whatever for dinner. This isnt all I eat for those meals but those are the foods high in fiber, do you think I could be taking in too much fiber? Doesnt fiber help you go to the toilet?

3-4 bowl movements a day is fine. Many would say the more the better.

Even so, your bowl movements are NOT the cause of your inability to gain weight.

im no expert, but was just reading about this in a back issue of mens fitness. The article noted that any more than approx. 45g of protein taken in at once is automatically passed and is not available for absorbtion into the body. Does anyone have any info to support/discredit this info??

I suggest you start a new thread for that question. It will allow a broader range of contributors in this forum to view it. Thus a higher chance of getting it answered.

Interesting statement, Id also like to hear if thats true or not.

Thanks again
