Going Backwards - need help

Hi there,

I was wondering if you could help. I will give a bit of context to my issue.

I am 31 years of age and last March weighing 22 stone 7lbs (315lbs). Between March and October I undertook a motivation programme that helped me lose 63lbs (4 & a half stone).

Since I finished that programme dispite my head space being ready for it, I have put back on about 18 lbs. Used excuses like weddings and Christmas to reasons why I hadn't lost and had gained.

I committed in the new year to get back on track. However a month in and I'm not down any weight. I fluctuate.

I'm 6ft 4 inches tall and quite fit. But I just need to shake the mental block I am having.

I have enough goals (weddings, holidays etc) to use as targets but I just can't get back on Track.

I've been injured lately which has stopped me from running and playing soccer. But I am back fit now and just need to get on track properly.

Could really do with some advice.

Thanks in advance

hmm it is a tough one. I am a bit lazy when it comes to healthy eating, so I am writing down everything i eat and photography. As i just started my journey I am taking lots of pictures of myself to remind myself of what I don't want anymore and of my food. I am making sure that I don't eat anything in secret like I have done in the past.

Maybe you need to have a real think about what your block is? I know it sounds a bit silly but stand in front of the mirror and have a conversation with yourself. Ask yourself what is wrong. I do that a lot in the shower and it put my head in a better place and I figure a lot out.

maybe it has all got a bit boring now? so you need to find fun creative ways to fit in the work?

Hey.

Firstly thanks so much for your advice. It's funny a lot of the stuff you've said there has worked for me in the past. I just need to get back there again.

I went for a drive this evening and made a "brain dump". I just wrote down everything in my head that I feel is stopping me.

The key things I came up with were:
- boredom eating. The winter has resulted in not getting out as much. As well as a recent injury has essentially had me in the house 3 more times a week oon my own. So secret eating has taken over.
- people have stopped asking me how my weight loss has been going and that's maybe something I miss. Almost being held accountable by it you know.

I took Pictures of myself there, weighed myself and downloaded an app to log my food.

I've. Set a modest goal to lose in the week ahead. I need to just be realistic in my approach I guess.

I really appreciate your words. I just need to get on top of things again.

Watched a couple of motivational videos too to help.

sounds like you are doing everything right. I am about to take my before picture. I went from being a 52kg runner 2 years ago to now being a 72kg coach potato. I want to lose it all by July. I think if you let yourself slip on those good habits that gave you that body you wanted then it will all come back on eventually! Boo.

Today I have to spend all day working from home but I am going to take two exercise brakes. One for a walk the other for a good work out at home. I normally dog walk in the week too, which i get paid for. I mainly do this to be with the dogs and fresh air as my normal job is teaching. Lots of websites where you can sign up to take care of other peoples pets, it is fun and you are committed to the walk or run then. Taking a dog out for a run is the most fun thing and I am so motivated to get fit enough to do it in a couple of weeks. Just scared that i might not achieve it. Think that has been keeping me back.

Thanks for the advice guys..it's much appreciated

Started back playing soccer last week and done a few tips. I lost 4lbs this week. Feeling like I've kicked back into gear again now.

Joined a gym yesterday today. Have my first session next week.

Going to keep running and the diary has helped just keep focus etc.

I motivated myself by a small trick that I learnt with a lot of practice and I have been able to lost an average of 1.5 pounds a day for the last 25 days. It is just unbelievable! :hurray: :willy_nilly::cheers2:
