Going back to school...

So, I'm going back to school in the fall for Physical Therapy. Around here, most strength and conditioning jobs are given to those with Physical Therapy or Athletic Training certifications, regardless of experience with S&C.

My situation is that my job where I have been employed at for 2.5 years is not willing to work around my school schedule. I could still go to school full-time and still maintain full-time hours. So I decided to seek other employment, however needed something with flexibility. What I found was working back into a produce department at the local grocery store. I did this job in high school and absolutely loved it, very flexible, working around my schedule and without the stress of my current job.

Now I am taking a huge, HUGE pay cut. I'd rather be happy and poor, than making a living and stressed out all the time. The big payoff will come at the end of school where I'll be making the big bucks again. But at the same time I won't have a lot for bills, still paying off a wedding, car..blah blah blah.

So I'm writing my draft for 2 weeks notice...is there such a thing as 1 week notice?? HAHA

I hope I'm doing the right thing.

Good luck bro. I'd love to have a stress free job. But I have 3 little mouths to feed. I've gotten pretty good at dealing with the BS with this job though. I have an uncanny ability to leave it at the door as I walk out. LOL

Do what makes you happy. As long as you get enough money for a place to stay and some food, you'll be golden!

The only reason to leave a notice is to leave on good terms. I left my last job on a two week notice, 1 week of which was vacation lol.

Going into that I left with a few days notice. Theres no rule that says you must give any notice.

Why dont you freelance train? In home? Bootcamps?

Back to school, back to school, to prove to dad that I'm no fool.

Best wishes. :)

Also, fwiw, I think you're making the right call.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! It's been a long process, but i know it will turn out to be the right one.

Tony, I have been doing training on the side for a few years now, but that's been put on hiatus for the last few months due to my traveling for work. Now that I'll be back home, I will have more time to contact those clients again. I've emailed workouts to them while I was gone. They're far enough along where I can do that, but now I can get back to in-home training on the side.

I also have to complete volunteer hours before the PTA program starts, along with a different CPR certification, physical exam, TB tests...a lot of ball-grabbing.

Good luck with your plans. Unfortunately, with a lot of decisions, we don't know if they are right or wrong until things are underway. In the end though, things have a way of working out, if you have your head screwed on straight! :D

Working full-time while taking classes is definitely no fun. I can't even imagine full time work with FULL time classes, that would be too much for anyone IMO. I'm just taking 7 credit hours, the last until I graduate in August, and even just those 7 hours makes my weeks kinda crappy. So, I guess what I'm saying is your route seems like a smart one.
