Sport glucose blood levels

Sport Fitness
Hi all

I have been getting regular blood tests to monitor my cholesterol levels- i have high cholesterol.
My last test i have finally got my cholesterol levels into an accepatbale range (5.2) through dietary changes and exercise alone.

However in my latest test, they tell me that my glucose blood sugar levels are high (5.7).

I am wondering if they have risen as i am on a low/no saturated fat diet ?
I dont think i am taking in that much more sugar - if anything i thought it would lower as i am no longer eating biscuuts/cakes/chocolate etc.

How do carbs fit in with this ? I have increased my carbs to compensate for the lack of fatty calories being taken. I know that bread contains sugar. Do you think this could be contributing to higher glucose levels ?

Does anyone have a list of foods where bad sugar could come from (foods that are low in sat fat but high in sugar).

The only sugar in my diet :-

1 spoonful of raw sugar in a coffee, 3 times a day.
1 spoonful of honey in porridge for brekkie every morning
1 piece of toast with honey every morning

handful or 2 of raisins twice a day

fruit - banana x 2, apple, orange

occasional juice or coke - max 1 or 2 times a week..

as you can see - there is not much sugar there - so it must be hidden sugars i am taking in..

any ideas ?

Thanks

post everything you eat

5.7 is right? 0.o

Im a type one diabetic and im told to aim between 4-8. 7+ is high if your a non-diabetic I would of thought unless you have eaten sugary food then done your sugar level after this.

Cholesterol values in the United States are expressed in mg / dL ( milligrams per deciliter ) and in Canada, the UK and Australia in mmol/L ( millimoles per litre.)

5.7 mmol / L cholesterol in Australia = 201 in US

Blood sugar in the US is measured in mg/d and in LAustralia is in mmol/L.

5.7 blood sugar in Australia = 103 in US, which is a pinch high (pre-diabetic) even for a non-diabetic.
