Hi everyone,

I apologise if this is not in the right section but I have a question.

In everyones opinion (I know everyone is different) what has been the most successful way of losing weight?

I have recently started the slim fast diet and calories counting I lost 7 pounds then put 3 back on and feel I am getting nowhere fast. I heard that counting fat is more effective but I'm so unsure, I just want to lose weight don't want to do a mad diet that takes hours to prepare etc.

I know that the best way is probably just healthy eating and exercise but there must be an easier solution lol I'll do anything lol

I went down to a size 12 when I lived in Canada for a year but that was down to walking mountains most days, not having money for food and being stressed lol now I'm back at home we have no mountains, I live with my parents who feed me too well and well I'm stressed still but I turn to food lol

Damnit I have no willpower.

I don't seem to have any willpower or motivation at the moment either how can I snap out of this?

So overall is it best to count calories or fat?

Thanks guys and I hope you all have a fantastic weekend x

I hate to say this, but you already mentioned the easiest solution.....watch what you eat and regular exercise. Put less calories into your body than you burn, and make sure that the calories you put in are as healthy as possible.

It really can't get much easier than that.....:)

And by the way, welcome to the forum! :seeya:

Bottom line is that it's all about calories. When you count fat, you're just finding another way to count calories. When you count carbs, you're just roundabout counting calories. When you drink Slimfast instead of eating, you're just limiting calories.

That's the bottom line is that you have to eat fewer calories than you burn to lose weight.

IMO, meal replacement doesn't work - because once you stop drinking the Slimfast, you just go back to your old way of eating and gain all the weight back. You have to learn how to eat healthily in order to maintain any weight loss.

Yup. What she said. Except, I probably would've said "dude" at somepoint and then tried to incorporate the word "weiner" somewhere.

I'm a huge fan of the combination of calories and fat being transfered into points - eg one of the weight watchers systems.

I don't go to WW any more but when I originally lost 9 stone 6 (132 pounds) that was at WW. I'd never go to a diet club again, but I always check both fat and cals and stay in my daily allowance... I duno its just like it says above, eat in moderation and exercise... just under a different title!
