Man i have hit a mega plateu I have been stuck at 245 for about 2 months now. I am eaating 1500 cal a day and still walking my 6 miles a day and sometimes playing hoops with my son as well. What the heck is going on? How can i get the lbs dropping again?

6 pds a day?? wow!

I can't speak from exceriance, but I've read that when you hit a plateu you can do a few things.

1) up your cals for a few days (maybe a week) then go back down to the 12-1500 cal range

2) try different excersizes, OR different time of day to excersize

Hope one of those helps you!! If not, just keep trucking, its BOUND to come off soon enough.

Good luck!

2 month plateau I can understand why your choked. I don't really have alot of advice, i went through the plateau stage also and that's when I felt like giving up, but thank goodness I didn't!! :) Newbride had great suggestions! I just changed things up a bit when i hit the plateau and it seemed to work. Keep up the great work, 6 miles holy smokes, that's crazy awesome.

cheers

Try to get enough sleep and drink plenty of water as well. I hope it starts shifting again soon.

I'd be pissed to!!!!

Wow, From what you say it should not be the case. Keep up the good work. Maybe you should be checked by a doctor. I don't think I could keep on if I was trying & had not lost weight in two months. I get tired thinking of 6 miles a day.

Thanks for the replies, I guess ill try switching things up a bit to trick my body. 6 miles is nothing now, i love it, Takes an hour and a half in the evening when i would be parked in front of a computer or the tv anyway. i just put on the ipod and go, its over before i even know it.

The only thing I'm doing differently is I have been pounding lots of diet soda recently coke zero to be exact. i wonder if this is causing the slowdown.

plateau

6 miles a day, good job!! Physically, have you gotten smaller during the 2 month plateau?? if you have it could be a case that youve lost pounds of fat, but gained some muscle, which is great! Or you could be holding water for whatever reason. If youve pretty much stayed the same size, then all i can recommend is to be patient and wait it out, sometimes the body needs to plateau for a while, to adjust to your new lifestyle. Its like a built in survival system for your body, allowing it to work more efficently and probably helping you lose the weight faster and safely. Hope that helps.

It must be adding some muscle or something, i am in 36 jeans now was in 40's at start , so something is going on but I would like the rest of the flab to start coming off.

I know how you feel. I've plateau-ed for awhile now too. but not 2 months. that would drive me insane. hang in there.

from what i've read in books that you might need to up your intensity level. if your walk is at a comfortable pace, you're not gonna lose more weight. what you're doing now might be just enough to sustain. I'm gonna try this out myself and try working out harder. good luck to you!

Sounds like your body is changing, even though scale is not. That's ok, because you're actually getting to what you want - reducing fat. I would recommend you to take measurements of yourself in several places (neck, arms, thighs, hips, waist, etc) and measure yourself once a month. You will know that you're dropping inches. Since walking 6 miles became a piece of cake for you, your body is used to this workout by now. I think you should change it up, and give your body a challenge. Try bycicling, jogging/running as an interval training for those 6 miles, do some weight training if you don't do it yet. You may also cut your calories to 1400-1300 for a week or two.
While I don't know for sure, but chemicals in diet coke may effect your body in a way that hinders weight loss. Drinking a lot of that stuff is bad for your health anyway, so if you aim at reducing diet soda and increasing your water intake, that may help too.

hope you'll break that plato soon!
