Getting in shape and fit :)

Hey guys,
I've just started working out at home trying to reduce weight and build up :)
my problem is my whole life I've had 'man boobs' and now is the time to try and get rid of them and my excess belly and thigh fat.

At the moment I'm doing daily exercises like cycling, 20 mins then I stop and do another 20 mins. Sit ups, like 40 a day, squats, push ups, like 10 since I;m fairly over weight and finally I am using water bottles for starters (2kg) to keep my arm muscles in balance.

Anyone can suggest anything else or what I can do better or do less?

Which regards eating, I eat a bowl of cereal in the morning, then at 10 I eat a sandwich or salad, at 12 I eat a light snack, at about 4 I eat dinner then at about 5 I start my training. After training I eat some fruit like 1 peach or some grapes or an apple to keep me full til I go to sleep.

Someone who knows much, much more than me can definitely add to this, but from what I've read you should probably be eating something with some protein after working out. More than just fruit. Like, a piece of whole wheat bread with peanut butter or a yogurt with your fruit or something. After you workout is not the time you want to be scrimping with the nutrition.

On the right track

Hi!
It sounds like you are on the right track with the exercising. I do agree with the last post that you should eat some protein after exercising. This is where you get the amino acids that will help build muscle. Muscle also burns fat. Pushups are the best thing you can do for your chest and biking is a great cardio activity. Do you have access to weights? If so, I would start using them, once I got used to doing pushups and cardio. Some good muscle groups to work together; day 1-chest and triceps, day 2-back and biceps, day 3 shoulders and cardio, day 4-legs. Just an example workout. On my blog, I show people how they can work out without spending much money.

Triceps-overhead dips, kickbacks, pushups with hands together
biceps-dumbell curls
shoulders-overhead press, side raises
legs-squats, lunges, deadlifts

I hope this helps. Have a great day!

You need to concentrate on your diet first and foremost. Domestika is right by suggesting more protein. There is no point in doing that many sit ups when you are not going to see your ab muscles if you don't eat better.

Let's see your stats: height, weight, age.

Also- please list a complete list of things that you eat on a typical day. (what kind of cereal, type of sandwich etc..)

Thanks.
