Getting fit: Insanity without diet plan

Hey everyone. I'm new to these forums as well as the world of fitness and exercise!

I'm 18 years old and have always been pretty skinny, have a high metabolism and a good body considering the things I eat. I am thin, but NOT toned at all. So recently I decided that I want to get super fit both for the health benefits and to 'perfect' or sculpt my body, i.e. get a really nice flat tummy and abs, no love handles, look much more toned all over.

Anyway, started the insanity workout - I know this sounds extreme but I WANT something extreme, and I'm really liking it so far even though it's tough. Just wondering, is it OK for me to follow this plan without following the diet plan? I don't eat unhealthily but don't really want to be committed to a diet especially since I'm not really interested in losing much weight, just toning up..

Please don't say 'Insanity isn't for you' because I'm really enjoying it and it's the only thing I've managed to keep up! (I'm in my 2nd week btw)

Thanks for any answers!

If you are enjoying it its good. It takes too much interest to do anything. And if you are taking interest in it.

You don't have to follow the diet that goes along with the workout, but if you're finding that you're not achieving your goals, you may want to take a look at your nutrition and see if you can make some positive changes. I'm not familiar with the Insanity diet... is it a meal plan? Do you have to eat specific things? Is it just general eating principles?

This statement makes me think that there are improvements that could be made, but you don't necessarily need to follow the Insanity diet.

Hey, Im new to the site but wanted to let you know that I too am doing Insanity and am a P90x graduate. I love the program and follow the nutrition plan "mostly". I have tweaked it a bit to my liking. I think the one thing for me that really helps is I always make sure that I drink my Shakeology everyday. Other then that, the biggest issue with that intense of a workout is to make sure that you take in the appropriate amount of calories a day based on whatever you came up with when you filled out the meal planner before you started the program.

I've done the p90x program before. You don't need to do the diet plan but a high-protein, low-carb diet recommended for maximum results. When I did it I actually didn't do the diet plan either, but one of my girl friends did and she had much better results. I'm excited for the insanity asylum volume 2 workout to be released.

I think this time I'll stick to the recommended nutrition this time, I'll post results and let you know how it goes.
