getting fast

im doing 50ft sprints now. back and forth its 100. i basically sprint there and back then jog there and back and repeat it. i started 1 week ago doing 10 reps and the next time i did it, i did 11. then 12. 2 days ago 13. today i did 14. what is the best way to increase speed? i am wondering if i should get leg weights and sprint with those on. i really dont wanna do something that wont help me though so can anyone guide me on whether i should change my plan and how to use leg weights.

thanks

Hey You are on the right path stay away from ankle weights, they will not help you really but will hurt you in the long run,(in my oppinion) straight leg dead lifts are really good for building speed as far as weights go, I personally believe hill sprints are great, I run in the 40 in 4.38 to 4.4 even on a regular day, maybe quicker if I was on turf, but I used to run just a 4.6 a little hill sprints and I was their quickly, also work on youre take off, do like 10 yard bursts and 20 yard bursts (you get the point) but just keep on it and you will get there!!!!!

Oh by the way for B-ball I think line drills are the best for quick short speed!!!

I agree and stay away from ankle weights. They'll throw off your form and cause injury. Keep with the small bursts of speed paired with some recovery drills. Throw in some core training, its amazing how neglected the core is and how much it is used in running. It will aid your speed.

thanks! ^____^
